Big E remains one of the big names that is missing on the current WWE roster. The former WWE Champion hasn’t wrestled since March 2022 after suffering a neck injury.

E was one of the rising talents in WWE and made a huge name for himself thanks to the face turn of the New Day.

Even when WWE decided to split the New Day and Big E, the singles star kept on winning titles and becoming a talent that many expected much from.

However, the injury has taken him out of action for a long time, but is there a chance for Big E to return?

Possible return to action for Big E

Several wrestlers had cut their time short due to serious injury. However, a few of them have been able to return to action and put up some amazing displays.

Edge (now Adam Copeland on AEW), Daniel Bryan (who is also on AEW) and Paige (also on AEW) all had cut short their time in the ring before returning to action.

All three are doing great work on AEW while Bryan and Edge also returned to WWE action before deciding to leave the company.

As for Big E, he spoke about his injury recently in 2023 and brought up that doctors had advised him not to wrestle.

Big E was speaking to the media at SummerSlam and said (h/t Wrestling Inc):

“We did the year checkup and all that stuff looked great.

“But on the other side, I talked to spine specialists, people who have worked on other people in the company and done their fusions and they said like hey, I would not wrestle again if I were you.”

E also spoke about wanting to live a pain-free life and was unsure about his future.

There has been no other update on E returning to WWE in a wrestling capacity. However, there are other roles possible. He could become a manager who doesn’t do much in the ring.

The other option could be that of a colour commentator as well, which would work well for the former WWE Champion.

What injury did Big E suffer?

Big E was in action against Ridge Holland and Sheamus. E was part of the New Day as they were brought back together, but things didn’t work out for him all that well.

Holland decided to attempt an overhead belly-to-belly suplex on E, but the WWE star handed on his head.

Big E picked up an injury and was stretchered off. It was later confirmed that E had suffered a broken neck. His C1 vertebrae and C6 vertebrae were fractured, however, E didn’t receive any spinal cord damage.

The WWE star also didn’t need to undergo surgery, which was a relief.
