Explore Pokémon Scarlet & Violet’s Indigo Disk DLC to uncover wild starter pokemon locations! From classic Kanto to new Galar Pokémon, find and capture them all!

In The Indigo Disk DLC, you can catch starter Pokemon in the wild! It’s the first time you can find these special Pokémon without using eggs or breeding. That’s pretty cool, isn’t it?

Now, for those not familiar with Pokémon talk, starters are the three Pokémon you get to choose from at the beginning of each game. They include classic ones like Bulbasaur, Squirtle, and Charmander from Kanto, and newer ones like Grookey, Sobble, and Scorbunny from Galar. But just so you know, the Paldean starters (Sprigatito, Quaxley, and Fuecoco) can’t be found in the wild.

To unlock these wild starter Pokémon in Scarlet and Violet, you have to complete a bunch of Blueberry quests (BBQs). Once you’ve done that, it can be a bit tricky to find them on the map. Below, we’ll tell you what you need to do to unlock the wild starters in The Indigo Disk and where to find them.

If you’re having trouble finding Pokémon in their homes, try using special sandwiches to make them show up more often. Here are the sandwiches we recommend:

  • For Fire Pokémon: Make a Pickle sandwich (use 1 pickle and 1 olive oil).
  • For Grass Pokémon: Make a Klawf claw sandwich (use 1 Klawf stick, 1 tomato, 1 lettuce, 1 salt, and 1 olive oil).
  • For Water Pokémon: Make a Zesty sandwich (use 1 jalapeño, 1 onion, 1 herbed sausage, and 1 chili sauce).

But be careful! Using a water-boosting sandwich in the water or a grass-boosting sandwich where there’s lots of grass Pokémon might not work well. We suggest going to the land for water types (if you can) and looking in quieter places for grass types. Just be patient, and you’ll find them!

Here are the places in the game where you can catch all the starter Pokémon at Blueberry Academy, organized by their Pokédex numbers.

  • Bulbasaur: Found in the grassy areas of the mountain in the southern part of the Coastal Biome.
  • Charmander: Roaming in the southern and central parts of the Savanna Biome.
  • Squirtle: Located in and out of the water in the southern area of the Canyon Biome.
  • Chikorita: Found in various areas of the Coastal Biome.
  • Cyndaquil: In a specific cave in the Polar Biome, identifiable by the presence of Tera Duraludon inside.
  • Totodile: Found in swampy pools in the Savannah Biome.
  • Treecko: Wandering around the grassy mountain tops in the Canyon Biome.
  • Torchic: Found in a specific cave south of the Polar Plaza, with a Tera Metang inside.
  • Mudkip: In the Torchlit Labyrinth in the Coastal Biome.
  • Turtwig: Found throughout the Canyon Biome.
  • Chimchar: On top of snowy cliffs in the Polar Biome.
  • Piplup: Roaming around the waters in the Polar Biome.
  • Snivy: Wandering in the northeastern part of the Savanna Biome.
  • Tepig: In the southern parts of the Canyon Biome, also along the edges.
  • Oshawott: In the northern part of the Polar Biome.
  • Chespin: In the Chargestone Cavern connecting the Polar and Canyon Biomes.
  • Fennekin: Wandering around the eastern part of the Savanna Biome.

Process to Unlock Starters in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet: The Indigo Disk

At first, you can’t catch the starter Pokémon in the wild. You have to reach the BB League club room in The Indigo Disk’s story. Drayton will then talk to you about using the computer to give BP to other clubs. He’ll make you donate to the baseball club for a tutorial, but after that, you’re free to donate to any club you want.

To add Pokémon starters to the Terarium biomes, you need 3,000 BP each. The starters match these biomes:

  • Savanna Biome: Charmander, Totodile, Snivy, Fennekin, Rowlet, Sobble
  • Coastal Biome: Bulbasaur, Chikorita, Mudkip, Froakie, Popplio, Grookie
  • Polar Biome: Cyndaquil, Torchic, Chimchar, Piplup, Oshawott, Chespin, Scorbunny
  • Canyon Biome: Squirtle, Treecko, Turtwig, Tepig, Chespin, Litten

Chespin is in both because it’s in a cave connecting two areas.

To earn BP, you need to do BBQs. You can get lots by using Union Circle mode with other players. We got enough BP for all upgrades in under two hours of multiplayer grinding with three others. As you gather BP, you’ll also get access to Snackworth Legendaries, but you have to beat the DLC to claim them.

Conclusion

Discovering where to catch wild starters in The Indigo Disk of Pokémon Scarlet & Violet has made the game even more exciting. From classic Pokémon like Bulbasaur to newer ones from Galar, it’s been a journey full of surprises and nostalgia. Completing Blueberry quests and doing BBQs was key to unlocking these special Pokémon. Although Paldean starters are not part of the wild ones, this revelation makes the game more fun, giving trainers a diverse team to enjoy in their Pokémon adventure.
