Overwatch 2 DPS guide: Soldier 76

In Overwatch 2, one of the DPS characters is Soldier 76. While most DPS have usually just two abilities, Soldier 76 has three abilities. Sprint allows him to accelerate his movement for a period of time, Biotic deploys an area-of-effect healing everyone within its vicinity, and finally, Helix Rockets deploy long range rockets at a target. He also carries an Automatic Rifle which can deal a decent amount of damage to enemies. His Ultimate, Tactical Visor, can lock into enemies within his line of sight for the duration of this ability. Be sure to use this hero judiciously as he is one of the best DPS characters for your squad.

Overwatch 2 DPS guide: Widowmaker

Known as the Widow’s Kiss, Widowmaker’s gun is both a shorter-range automatic weapon and a sniper rifle. With her Grappling Hook ability, she can climb higher than other heroes while her Venom Mine ability leaves a poisonous trap for unsuspecting enemies. Infra-Sight is Widowmaker’s Ultimate ability that turns all enemies into red shadows that allies can see through walls and across the map.

Teleporting abilities

Getting the hang of Tracer’s teleportation ability can be challenging, but players who master it can rack up the eliminations. Whenever she appears, she quickly deals damage to her enemies and teleports away before taking any damage. As Tracer doesn’t do much damage when she fires, and she doesn’t have much HP, it is important to use her teleportation abilities effectively. Without Blink or Recall for a quick escape, the player may die before eliminating enemies if they aren’t careful.

Turret placement of Torbjorn

While Torbjorn’s abilities can be used in any Overwatch 2 mode, he’s most useful on defense, so attacking teams should pick a different hero. Torbjorn is a solid choice regardless of game mode. Turret placement is one of the most important and often overlooked aspects of playing Torbjorn’s turret. Despite its limited health, it deals a good amount of damage, so it’s imperative for players to find a spot that’s closed-off and hidden before the enemy locates it and destroys it. You should hold and use Molten Core when enemies are present.

Ultimate of Pharah

With her jets, Pharah does best, dealing damage from the air. Due to the limited duration of her jet propulsion, it is crucial to use this ability strategically. As a result, she should also avoid being directly above enemies. While Pharah’s Ultimate is powerful, it also makes her vulnerable, as it prevents her from moving. When paired with a Sigma tank, she can use Barrage in midair while his shield is in front of her.

Reaper: The Stalker Hero

DPS heroes like Reaper are difficult to master in Overwatch 2. Aside from his primary gun and Ultimate, he lacks any damaging abilities, and the rest of his abilities are only meant for escaping life-threatening situations. Reaper has the ability to teleport behind enemies using his Shadow Step ability. Teleporting behind someone and shooting them in the head is one of his best strategies.

Learn the DPS Playstyles well

In OW2, you can choose from a variety of DPS heroes. Each of these has a vastly different set of abilities that facilitate very different playstyles. There are some DPS characters who are capable of offensive close combats and have abilities that deal heavy, but quick damage. An example of such characters are Genji, Tracer, and Reaper. For those who prefer ranged combat and have quick reactions, Widowmaker is a great option as she is a sniper.

Knowing the Maps well

DPS players should be well aware of the nooks and crannies of the maps in the map pool. This ability will allow them to get some nasty eliminations and gives enough vantage points against your enemies. Enemies might not expect damage coming in from the sidelines away from the team. DPS characters are the only ones who have the ability to capture different areas of the map while Tanks can work as distractions.

Get a High Ground Advantage

Many DPS characters in Overwatch 2, such as Hanzo and Genji, have movement abilities that let them reach areas other Tanks cannot. It is a good idea to use these abilities, especially those that allow you to boost to higher levels. Having an off angle to shoot from makes it harder for your enemies to defend or respond.

Switching DPS Characters

Being a DPS main, you may rush into an enemy’s territory to frag out, but this also increases your odds of getting killed. Switching up characters if one isn’t working out is recommended. You can even keep 30% of Ultimate points when switching heroes in OW2.
