As per Adam Schefter of ESPN: Panthers are trading Pro-Bowl RB Christian McCaffrey to the San Francisco 49ers in exchange for draft picks, sources tell ESPN. McCaffrey returns to the Bay Area, where he attended Stanford. Trade comp: 49ers are sending second-, third- and fourth-round picks in 2023 and a fifth-round pick in 2024 in exchange for RB Christian McCaffrey, sources tell ESPN.
This move has made the San Francisco 49ers a legit Super Bowl contender as they will now have Deebo Samuel and Christian McCaffrey as their dual threats, both of whom can run the ball extremely well and play as great receivers as well.
Even though Trey Lance won’t return to play this season due to his ankle injury, Jimmy Garoppolo has a great opportunity to win the Super Bowl with this team, and cement his place long term in this team.
