Russell Wilson was acquired by the Denver Broncos from the Seattle Seahawks with massive expectations and a premium paycheck. Having costed more than $230 Million, which was majorly a huge chunk of the draft capital of the Broncos, the fans haven’t quite seen the magic they expected from the veteran campaigner.

With lackluster performances since the beginning of the 2022-23 season, Russell Wilson’s stint in Denver went from bad to worse on Thursday as the team lost in overtime to Indianapolis Colts. Who was to take the blame for it? A Quarterback who had the chance to seal the game in his team’s favor – Wilson.

With no TouchDowns, no interceptions leading up to the final moment, Russell Wilson failed to spot the magnificent run made by KJ Hamler. The latter’s frustration was evident as he threw his helmet on the floor in the red zone.

Russell Wilson accepts his fault cost the game vs Colts

“It’s very simple – at the end of the day I’ve got to be better, I’ve got to play better,” Wilson said, via ESPN. “The defense played their butts off tonight; we had some key good drives. … At the end of the day throwing two interceptions can’t happen. Can’t happen. I let the team down tonight.”

Although Russell Wilson took full accountability for this loss against the Colts, yet it won’t take the fact that he has been underperforming week-after-week for the Broncos. Given that it is always tough to settle into an offensive system of another team, but Broncos’ team and staff has given the veteran Quarterback ample freedom and time to do so.

That being said, the Denver Broncos have now dropped to back-to-back games and have slipped to 2-3 in the 2022-23 season. With Russell Wilson being urged to step up his game, will we see his best coming out in Week 6? Time will unfold all answers.
