Indianapolis Colts star running back – Jonathan Taylor has re-aggravated the same ankle injury take forced him out of two games earlier in the season. As a result of which, Taylor would not be featuring his team’s Week 9 contest against the New England Patriots.
Jonathan Taylor would be replaced by back-up Deon Jackson as the Colts no longer have Nyheim Hines (traded to the Buffalo Bills) in their roster. After missing out on games in Week 5 and 6, this will be the third game where Indianapolis Colts will be without their star, whose ankle seems to be bothering him majorly at this point.
After a stellar rookie season and MVP caliber season in 2021, Hopes and expectations were quite high from Jonathan Taylor. To those who are not aware the 23-year-old had one of the best ever individual seasons for a running back in 2021 – rushing for 1,811 yards on 332 attempts while averaging 5.2 yards per carry. The charismatic RB also led the league in rushing touchdowns with 18 while adding 40 catches for 360 yards and two touchdowns. As a result of which, he earned First-Team All-Pro honors while making his first Pro-Bowl.
How has Jonathan Taylor performed in the 2022-23 season?
Many expected Jonathan Taylor to work upon his upward trajectory yet the reality has been different, courtesy of his injury concerns so far in this season.
The Indianapolis Colts’ running back has 107 carries, 462 yards and just one rushing touchdown. Also, he has managed to register 16 receptions for 71 yards against his name in the 6 games he’s featured in so far.
Given that the team Colts are 3-4-1 in the first 8 games of the current regular season, they are ranked 2nd in the AFC South behind Tennessee Titans. Will they be able to secure their 4th win of the season against Bill Belichick unpredictable side? Remains to be seen.
