“He gives them the best opportunity to win big long-term”- Shannon Sharpe backs Dak Prescott to lead the Cowboys instead of Cooper Rush

Since Dak Prescott has been ruled out of thumb injury in the season opening loss to Tampa Bay Buccaneers, it seems like Cooper Rush hasn’t made the team feel any less of the former’s absence. After Week 4’s showdown was concluded, the Cowboys have successfully gone onto win 3 back-to-back games being led by backup Quarterback – Cooper Rush.

While Dak Prescott is surely one of the best Quarterbacks of all-time and has repeatedly made fans and analysts aware about his passing and scoring prowess, former NFL star and Hall of Famer – Shannon Sharpe feels that is his Prescott’s right to be back in the side, when he returns into full fitness despite the heroics shown by Cooper Rush.

Interestingly Cooper Rush is the first Quarterback in franchise history to win first four games. Rush went 15-of-27 for a staggering 233 yards and threw a pair of TouchDowns in the win on Sunday against the Commanders. Moreover, Cooper Rush’s 55.6% completion percentage was actually the worst he’s had so far this season as a starter. Yet the was able to lead the Cowboys to the victory line.

Shannon Sharpe picks Dak Prescott ahead of backup QB

Shannon Sharpe quoted on the latest episode of Undisputed, “Yeah, if he’s (Dak Prescott) is ready and if he is able to do things which he normally does. If he didn’t have the injured thumb, I would like to see how he would drift the football, wanna see how he is able to spin the football and how he protects the football also. And if he’s able to dot hese things, that given them (Dallas Cowboys) a chance to win big long-term.”

More than anything Cooper Rush’s splendid form has given more time to recover for Dak Prescott as he will now have more days to take ample amount of rest, knowing that his team are ranking 2nd in the NFC East, and are just one win behind the resilient Philadelphia Eagles (who are undefeated 4-0 in the 2022-23 season).

That being said, for someone who has been a backup QB for years now, Rush has done a fantastic job for his team. But there are surely no doubts upon who starts when Dak Prescott is able to return in full health on the field.
