Kevin showed his excitement with a tweet for an upcoming Netflix documentary based on the USA gold-medalist team.

Subscription-based streaming services Netflix just announced that they are making a documentary on the US men’s national basketball team of the Olympic 2008. The star-laden team is often known as the “Redeem Team”.

The Brooklyn Nets star tweeted about the documentary after he heard about it. In his words, ”Needed it yesterday, can’t wait to lock in”. The huge appreciation for the team and excitement for the documentary are as big for him as for the fans.

The documentary is co-produced by NBA superstars LeBron James and Dwayne Wade. Both of the stars were also part of the team during the Olympics 2008. The documentary will go live on October 7, 2022.

Why was it called the Redeem Team?

It was called Redeem Team as the US national team faced humiliation because of the failure in the event of 2004. The newly-recruited stars in 2004, Bron and Carmelo Anthony played in the event alongside the Answer; Allen Iverson.

The team lacked experience and that caused them the Olympics and the streak of winning fourth gold at the event. The team later also lost the 2006 world basketball championship.

The redeem team won every game in the group. They had players like Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, Chris Paul, Carmelo Anthony, Dwayne Wade, Chris Bosh, Jason Kidd, Dwight Howard, etc. Kobe was the captain of the ship who sailed them to victory.

How has Kevin Durant performed for Team USA?

Kevin missed the roster of the 11-all-star team of 2008. However, he seems excited as the team is considered one of the best teams of all time. Later, Durant played in other Olympic events but was not part of 2008.

In a major international tournament for the United States of America, Durant played for the first time in FIBA Basketball Worldcup in 2010. And later, in 2012, 2016, and 2020 versions of the famous international sporting event Olympics.

Being the leading scorer for Team USA as of now, it is pretty much convenient that he has been the scoring leader in every international tournament that he has played.
