Irish youngster Jack Shore is set to appear on UFC Fight Island against Aaron Phillips

Rising Welsh UFC star Jack Shore named some top fighters as his role models while growing up.

The 25-year-old was to face Anderson dos Santos at UFC Fight Island, but that fight was cancelled after his opponent tested positive for Covid-19.

Aaron Phillips should face Shore on July 15, but the Welshman is confident of getting the win over anyone he faces.

Shore was speaking to Jer Wilson of the Blood, Sweat and Tears podcast and was asked who were his favourite fighters while growing up.

The 25-year-old named three big UFC names which included Georges St-Pierre:

“Frankie Edgar was one of them, GSP and Nate Diaz was my top three growing up.

“Even as a 13-14 year old kid, I was a massive fan of those guys from the get go.”

Shore claimed that he would watch these three while growing up and added that GSP was an incredible competitor who could do everything in the Octagon.

Ready for more fights

Shore currently is undefeated in his MMA career and is on a 12-fight winning streak. The Welshman would be keen on continuing that at Fight Island, and it will be interesting to see how he does in Abu Dhabi.

Shore also claimed that he was living his dream by fighting in the UFC and travelling all across the world. He also planned to continue fighting later in the year and was hopeful of picking up more clashes.

His fight against Phillips will be his second in the UFC, and he should be the favourite for the win. The 25-year-old is one of the rising stars in the Bantamweight division, and if he keeps on picking up wins, a title shot should be in the offering.
