However, boy, are they expensive. Keeping up with the newest historical shooter or military simulator is a surefire way to empty your bank account. Here is our list of the Best War Games on PC in no particular order.

Best War Games on PC

1. War Thunder

War Thunder is a massively multiplayer online military game in which players fight each other using various vehicles rather than adopting the position of a soldier on the ground. Players can get into a variety of various cars in this area. Players will find a vast assortment of vehicles ideal for a variety of situations, including tanks, naval battleships, and planes. It’s a game that’s been around since 2013, so there’s plenty of content and DLC for gamers to enjoy, as well as a thriving community. Not to mention the fact that this is a free-to-play video game, there’s no reason not to give it a try right now.

2. ARMA 3

Arma 3 has been around for quite some time. This game was first released in 2013, and it still has a large fan base. Fans will be treated to a military sandbox-style game with plenty of content for single-player and multiplayer play. However, the fact that this game enables content development and mod support may pique the curiosity of some aficionados. Players can create their own scenarios, multiplayer game types, and even vehicles, and weapons here. You can spend a lot of time messing around in this game, but there are a lot of fans asking if and when a sequel will be released.

3. World of Tanks

World of Tanks is an arcade-style vehicular battler with all the huge guns, big explosions, and furious armor brawling you could hope for, is a free-to-play classic. Choose a tank and enter fast-paced conflicts as you nip through gallic fields and tight urban landscapes, blasting foes with shells in competitive, real-time engagements. World of Tanks isn’t the most serious of simulations, but it isn’t just aimless firing either. To break the armor of opposing tanks, you’ll need to correctly aim your cannon and tactically maneuver across the battlefield to flank and pincer foes. If you’re looking for a quick gunfight, jump right in, or study the game’s subtleties to climb the leaderboards.

4. Enlisted

Enlisted is a hardcore, squad-focused multiplayer first-person shooter by Gaijin, the developer of War Thunder. Put yourself in the muddy boots of a Second World War infantry unit and shoot your way through tactical skirmishes, capturing objectives and whittling down the opposition team’s reinforcements. When we say Enlisted is focused on the team, we mean it. In each fight, you’ll command a unique squad of AI infantry, issuing orders and storming crucial positions to seize territory. And these squadmates aren’t just for show. If you are slain on the battlefield, you will assume control of one of your colleagues and live to fight another day.

5. World of Warships

World of Warships moves the free-to-play arcade action of World of Tanks to the wide sea. In team combat, command a ship as you strive to take objectives and sink enemy vessels, relying on teamwork and cunning positioning to gain an advantage over the opposing team. Each ship, which includes destroyers, cruisers, battleships, and aircraft carriers, has its own set of martial strengths and maneuverability requirements, which alters the way you approach the battle. With nearly 450 ships from WWI to the early 1950s, World of Warships is a delight for everyone who wants to witness their favorite naval boats in action, both renowned and obscure.

6. Company of Heroes 2: Ardennes Assault

Ardennes Assault is a Company of Heroes 2 expansion that expands on all of the improvements made to the base game, which had a shaky start, adding a new campaign that not only brought back fan-favorite American forces, but also a dynamic campaign layer that made the game seem more replayable. During the 1944 Ardennes war, you command three companies and must fight off the German counter-offensive by seizing and holding vital cities and regions. The original Company of Heroes will always be remembered, but it’s becoming a little old now, and we prefer to keep things new.

7. Tannenberg

In comparison to World War II, there aren’t as many World War I video games on the market, but that doesn’t mean there won’t be ones to pick up and play in 2021. Tannenberg was first released in 2019, however, it was only released on console platforms last year, in 2020. In this game, we’ll go through the Tannenberg conflict, which took place in East Prussia in 1914 and pitted Russia and Germany against each other. The devs aimed for a more realistic approach to the game, similar to Verdun, with the weapons, outfits, and, of course, the area players would be fighting in.

8. Battlefield V

As you, once again, prepare for the killing fields of World War 2, Battlefield V maintains this somber tone. The War Stories in Battlefield 5 are single-player narratives designed to “create feelings of despair.” The name, birth date, and death date of your character loom out with each death, reminding you that this war game is about more than just pleasure. Battlefield V, on the other hand, rivals the top PC FPS games in terms of gameplay. During a match, the battlefields themselves vary continually as destructible buildings are knocked down, showering players with rubble.

This was our list of the Best War Games on PC. Fortunately, surviving the hardships of War is not something that our generation has experienced. But some of these games will make you feel like you have just lost a brother to enemy forces.
