WarGames is known for a lot of brutality and here are the results and grades from the 2020 edition of this WWE NXT special.

Women’s WarGames match

Candice LeRae had a big team with Dakota Kai, Toni Storm and Raquel Gonzalez. Shotzi Blackheart also had a wonderful team with Ember Moon, Io Shirai and Rhea Ripley.

Moon and Kai started the fight for their respective teams and the faces had the advantage with Blackheart coming in next.

There was a lot of madness in this match, as expected with a mallet being used to blast Kai with it.

In the end, it was Team Candice that got the win over their rivals thanks to Gonzalez.

Team Candice beats Team Blackheart

Grade A

Gonzalez was the real star of the match. She has been overlooked a bit since teaming up with Kai but this win was huge for her NXT career.

She could be a challenger for the title and it will be interesting to see what is next for her.

Ciampa vs Thatcher

Timothy Thatcher was using all his mat experience to wear down Tommaso Ciampa. Thatcher also targeted Ciampa’s neck and used a ton of holds on him.

However, Ciampa kept on pushing and accepting the punishment before getting the win.

Ciampa beats Thatcher

Grade A

This was a physical, brutal, classic style of wrestling with an emphasis on hard-hitting spots.

Ciampa and Thatcher served up a treat and there was a lot of hard spots in the match.

Grimes vs Lumis

The strap match between Cameron Grimes and Dexter Lumis was next. The strap played a huge role in this match as both stars tried to get the advantage over the other.

Steel chairs were used a lot as well and it was Grimes that lost thanks to some smart moves from Lumis.

Lumis beats Grimes

Grade B

Grimes worked hard in this match and he was the one doing a lot of the work. WWE has a star on their hands with Lumis and this could be another step in his quest for becoming a champion on the brand..

North American title clash

The triple threat match saw Leon Ruff, the champion, defend his title against ex-champions Johnny Gargano and Damian Priest.

As with any triple threat match, there was a lot of confusion going on with each star coming close to winning the title.

However, a few Ghost faces made their way to the ring and helped Gargano out. In the end it was Gargano that got the win and Austin Theory was unmasked as the lead Ghost face.

Gargano beats Ruff and Priest

Grade A

Theory coming back is huge for NXT and now both LeRae and Gargano have their own supporters.

The match was great too and the rivalry could still continue given that Gargano used outside help for the win.

Men’s WarGames

The Undisputed Era faced off against Pat McAfee’s team which featured Oney Lorcan, Danny Burch and Pete Dunne.

It were the heels who had the advantage in this one as Kyle O’Reilly and Dunne started the match.

Lorcan entered next and then Fish made his way to level the playing field. Burch made it 3-2 for the heels before Roderick Strong entered for the Era.

McAfee and Adam Cole were the final entrants as more weapons were thrown into the two rings in hopes of causing a lot of damage.

However, it was the Undisputed Era who got the win after several close calls.

Era beats Team McAfee

Grade A

This was everything a WarGames match should be. It was violent, crazy and filled with dangerous spots.

The Era needed a win to secure their legacy and they got it. McAfee was excellent, again, even in such a dangerous match and it will be interesting to see how this rivalry will build after this brutal affair.
