Matt Cardona was defeated easily by Sheamus in their WWE title bout
Matt Cardona, Zack Ryder during his WWE days, was one of the stars that really got the crowd going behind him without the help of the promotion.
The former WWE Tag Champion and Intercontinental Champion achieved a lot of success during a fantastic run with his Long Island Z persona.
However, WWE also lost interest in him later on and he was made to job a few matches before he was released by the company.
Cardona didn’t fret much as he was snapped up by AEW and recently made his debut on Dynamite. However, he did have the chance to win the WWE title when he was with the company.
This came nearly a decade ago and it didn’t end well for Ryder. He was defeated easily by Sheamus and the match lasted just 11 seconds.
However, the AEW star had a hilarious take on this loss as this memory was brought back on social media:
I almost had him. https://t.co/CA1kVqNgAd

Cardona does make jokes about his time on WWE. Despite being one of the most talented stars on the roster but things just didn’t work for him during his later stages with the company.
A clean slate on AEW
Getting into AEW has given Cardona a new lease on his wrestling career. He has sided with Cody Rhodes since making his AEW debut and even saved the TNT Champion from an attack.
It will be interesting to see what happens next for Cardona. He could try to win the TNT title before trying his luck for Jon Moxley’s AEW crown.
There are many who have tried to take the titles off Cody and Moxley, and all of them have failed to do so for the time being.
