Tony Ferguson was easily defeated by Charles Oliveira and questions have been raised about his UFC future

UFC 256 had one incredible Lightweight battle with Tony Ferguson taking on Charles Oliveira.

Credit should be given to both stars for taking up the fight on short-notice and they put on quite a show. However, it turned out to be a one-sided affair with many shocked at how Ferguson was defeated.

There was one sickening moment where Oliveira had Ferguson locked in an armbar and El Cucuy wouldn’t give up.

Ferguson showed off his toughness by not tapping, continuing the fight and lasting the three rounds. He also confirmed that there was no injury to his arm. That was incredible but the loss would have hurt Ferguson.

El Cucuy posted a long message about this but Khabib Nurmagomedov, the UFC Lightweight champion, had predicted that Ferguson’s time was done.

He was speaking a few months back and Ali Abdelaziz was quick to remind everyone of this.

Ferguson isn’t coming back?

Khabib was giving an interview and spoke about the loss that Ferguson suffered against Justin Gaethje. That was for the interim Lightweight title and Gaethje destroyed his rival.

Khabib claimed that Ferguson’s power and reactions were at one level and they would come down.

The champion also said that Ferguson’s time had finished and he would lose when he would come back. Khabib also added that the damage that Ferguson took from Gaethje was an example of him not returning to his best.

While Ferguson tried to put up a brave face and even posted a celebration GIF to the original tweet. It was a horrible outing for him at UFC 256.

Abdelaziz has attacked the likes of Ferguson and Conor McGregor in the past and even he was open to taking on El Cucuy in a submission underground event.

It is to be seen what happens with Ferguson, given his age and mini-decline. It could be time for him to take a step back but the American is still one of the most dangerous men on the planet and one win can change the entire discussion regarding his future.
