Goldberg losing at Royal Rumble 2021 could be his last WWE fight

Speaking on the latest episode of the Busted Open podcast, Dave LaGreca and Bully Ray speculated that the defeat at Royal Rumble 2021 could be the last WWE fight for Goldberg.

He took on Drew McIntyre for the WWE Championship, which came as a bit of a surprise. Goldberg challenge McIntyre at Raw Legends night and the Scot accepted the challenge for the Royal Rumble.

The fight at the Rumble started even before the bell as The Chosen One hit him with a Spear.

The two then fought outside before resuming a physical and even fight inside the ring. McIntyre ultimately landed a Claymore to retain the belt.

What was more surprising was seeing the two shake hands after the fight as a sign of respect. And LaGreca now believes that it was the end, and a fitting end at that, of Goldberg’s WWE career.

“Once you go into the Hall of Fame you probably figure alright that might be it in the world of WWE. I think this was a fitting way to end Goldberg’s career.”

Goldberg passed the torch to Drew McIntyre at Royal Rumble 2021

He then implies that WWE used Goldberg well to ‘pass the torch’ to a future legend in Drew McIntyre.

“You want that veteran, that superstar, to pass the torch to the new champion. This was a passing of the torch I felt, for Drew McIntyre. I think this is a perfect way for a Hall of Famer to go out.”

Bully Ray added that Goldberg should not be brought back just like that. For that to happen, it should make ‘perfect sense’.

He gave the example of a rivalry with Matt Riddle as a possible storyline where Goldberg could be inserted.

“In order for Bill to come back, it would have to make the absolute right sense. Not just the plug-and-play thing.”

Both of them make complete sense here. Goldberg should be not be overused by the promotion just like that and he deserves a fitting ending like he got at Royal Rumble.

The former champion was a legend before coming to WWE and this short match was perfect for someone like him to show that he can play a part.
