Adam Pearce shocks WWE Universe as he sets up Roman Reigns vs Kevin Owens at Royal Rumble
Jey Uso and Reigns intervened in the fight to make sure Pearce won. In the days leading up to today, Pearce masked his true intentions and played along with the notion that he would face the Big Dog at the Rumble.
But on this week’s WWE Friday Night SmackDown, he flipped the tables on the current champion. Pearce and Reigns were scheduled to sign a contract to confirm their title date at the end of this month.
Before the signature, Reigns and Paul Heyman got the match to be a No Disqualification match. Pearce did not react to this and went on to sign on the dotted line.

After signing the contract, the former wrestler revealed that he is, in fact, injured. And according to the rules of the contract, he said he can choose a suitable replacement for himself.
What came next was the most predictable thing after Pearce’s injury revelation. Kevin Owens walked out and signed the contract, much to the Tribal Chief’s error.
Pearce reacted to this moment later on social media by posting a GIF of a chessboard, implying that he had masterminded this move all along.
Last month, KO took the Tribal Chief to the limit. He lost the fight but earned a rematch the following week in a Hell in a Cell match. Some nifty interception from Jey Uso saw him lose again.
This left a sour taste in the mouth of the fans who believed that the feud did not reach a satisfactory conclusion. But now, they would be hoping that Owens is third time lucky and manages to get his hands on the title.
