“Football was a way out…” : Dwayne Johnson once revealed how football helped him correct himself from the life of crime

The world might have seen Dwayne Johnson as a footballer if he would have not failed in his footballing career. Johnson after suffering a setback changed his profession and switched his career to professional wrestling. After experiencing success and reaching his prime in WWE, The Rock found an alternative and joined Hollywood.

As an actor in the movie industry, he reached new heights and became one of the highest-paid actors in the entire world. Over the course of his career, he has starred in several top films and franchises. However, despite such career changes, he still maintained his love for football. His once rejection from NFL led him to various current actions which prove his love for football.

Back in 2008, during an interview with The New York Times, Johnson revealed an incident of from his teenage years, and how that could have completely tarnished his current career. Prior to becoming to an actor, Johnson used to be an athlete, first a football player, then a wrestler.

The 50-year-old took football during his teenage years, and further described how it helped shape his career for the future. Johnson revealed he was always a troublesome teenager, who was even arrested a couple of times, and how it was football that saved him.

He said, “I fell in love with the game of football and I started playing football when I was 14 years old. But my positon was left out it wasn’t that good. Football was a way out, I spent a lot of time trying to stay on the right path.”

The Rock said, ” I was doing a lot of things that I shouldn’t have been doing when I was young, when I was a teenager, and pay the price for them. I was arrested a couple of times and I was really lucky that I had a coach, who eventually became a father figure in my life.”

He also described how his football coach saw the potential in him, that he himself did not see. However, unfortunately Johnson never got the break he deserved in football, and had to settle on another career.
