WWE superstar Drew McIntyre opens up more about his mother in latest interview

Former WWE champion, Drew McIntyre, was once released by the company in mid-2014 after his professional life was affected by his mother’s passing.

It is no secret that the Scotsman was very close with his mother and how her death in 2012 because of cancer affected him a lot.

And speaking on the latest episode of the Busted Open podcast earlier this week, the Scotsman revealed the hardships his mother went through growing up with a rare genetic condition.

“She grew up with a very rare condition that affects, basically no humans. It affects more dogs where a balanced portion of her brain died and she was told she’d never have kids…”

That condition is known as Cerebellar Ataxia which Drew’s mom, Angela Anne Galloway, suffered from for over 30 years until her death in 2012.

Despite people doubting Angela and asking her to get an abortion, she had a healthy baby boy in Drew McIntyre on 6th June 1985, in Ayr, Scotland.

But things could have gotten awry from the get-go as Drew reveals that his mother was told before her childbirth that she may not be able to survive it.

“She got pregnant with me… she was told she may die, ‘we don’t know, you may have to abort’. She said, ‘screw that, I’m still gonna have my kid, if I die, I die’. She had me, she had my brother. Never complained once. Went through so much.”

There is no doubt that McIntyre has gone on to make his mother very, very proud. She saw her son make it in WWE, which he did in 2007.

And even now, the Scotsman would know that his mother would be proud of what he is doing inside the ring and how he has made a remarkable career for himself.
