Bianca Belair confirms she suffered eye injury during Bayley clash at Backlash

Taking to Twitter, WWE SmackDowm Women’s Champion Bianca Belair has that confirmed she suffered eye injury during her fight against Bayley at Backlash

Bianca Belair clashed against Bayley at the WWE WrestleMania Backlash PPV on Sunday, in what was essentially her first title defence since she defeated Sasha Banks at WrestleMania 37 last month.

And even though the build to the match was nothing to write home about, Bayley and Belair more than made up for it with a brilliant fight, which ended with Belair retaining the title, after making use of her braid to pin Bayley.

Bianca confirms eye injury after successfully defending her title

Throughout the match, Bayley looked to put Bianca at a disadvantage by resorting to underhanded tactics like using her braid or even trying to tear her earrings off.

One of the sequences in the match saw Bayley rake Bianca Belair’s eye, which led to the babyface struggling for a bit. But, ultimately Belair prevailed to hold on to the WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship.

After the bout, fellow WWE Superstar Naomi congratulated Belair on her victory on social media, while referencing to the eye injury. And, Belair confirmed that she had indeed injured her eye but came through despite having blurred vission.

As iterated earlier, Bianca and Belair worked an excellent match. There is definitely room for a rematch in the near future either on SmackDown or at WWE Hell in a Cell PPV next month.

She may not have been seeing clearly at the end of the match because of the eye injury, but things are certainly looking up for the EST of WWE after her first title defence.
