Chris Lee was the UFC judge who gave John Allan the fight despite Roman Dolidze dominating his opponent

Chris Lee, a UFC judge, was on the receiving end of a lot of questions from many in the promotion after handing John Allan the fight despite Roman Dolidze dominating his opponent.

Paul Felder and Dominick Cruz, both UFC stars, were on commentary duty and were shocked to hear the results.

Lee gave Allan a 29-28 but the other judges gave Dolidze the fight and he won via a split decision. However, Felder brought up his fight against Rafael dos Anjos, a couple of weeks back which also ended in a split decision.

Felder had taken the fight on short notice and claimed he didn’t deserve a decision from the judges then. It was Lee who gave him the fight in that instance too and even Joe Anik added that it was a unanimous win for Dolidze but he didn’t know what was going on.

Dolidze was asked about this decision and he didn’t make much of it but said that the judges probably know what they are doing.

A history of making poor calls

Many added that being a UFC judge isn’t easy but this wasn’t a tough call to make. Gilbert Burns has always called out Lee in the past and he did so again this time:

A couple of others also couldn’t believe what the scorecard from the fight was and called out the UFC judge:

Aaron Bronsteter brought up an interesting statistic regarding Lee. He claimed that Lee has been a judge on several such close fights and he has been the dissenting judge eight times over the past 11 fights in 2020.

It is interesting to note that Lee is a boxing judge and was brought into the UFC. Cruz, Anik and Felder all added that MMA scoring is different when compared to boxing, and that could have been a reason why Lee scored the fight in such a way.
