UFC Lightweight star Davi Ramos believed he could match up well against Khabib Nurmagomedov

Davi Ramos will be in action at Fight Island as he goes up against Arman Tsarukyan at UFC Fight Night 173.

The Brazilian is known for his jiu-jitsu abilities and has won several medals in international competitions.

He is pretty good in the Octagon too and has a record of 10 wins and three losses so far. Ramos was on a four-fight win streak before facing Islam Makhachev. He lost to the Russian at UFC 242 but that hasn’t hurt his confidence.

The Brazilian was speaking with Jer Wilson before he was off to Abu Dhabi and Fight Island. Ramos was confident of doing well against his opponent at Fight Night but was also asked about facing Khabib Nurmagomedov in a grappling only match.

The Lightweight Champion is one of the best wrestlers in the world, but Ramos believed he would put on a good show against one of the greatest ever:

“It’s gonna be awesome. Gonna be awesome, I will really enjoy this fight. Before my last fight, all my plan is to fight against Khabib, you know.

“I know I have too many things to improve and there are too many guys to beat to fight against him.

“Right now, I am pretty confident to come in there and show what I can do and especially with Khabib. Khabib is real good at what he do. He is really good at wrestling but all those guys he fights, he has never fought against a guy like me, so let’s see.”

Not enough punching power

The Brazilian also claimed that Khabib’s strikes weren’t all that great and he knew what the plan was from Khabib:

“His strike is not the best one and what they love to do is take down and I think he is gonna try to do it.”

Khabib should be in action against Justin Gaethje as the UFC crowns the undisputed champion. However, the Russian has had to deal with a major loss a couple of days back. Khabib’s father, Abdulmanap, passed away after heart surgery and Covid-19 symptoms.

Abdulmanap was always seen with his son and the Russian also coached most of the Dagestani and Russian MMA stars.

Khabib vs Gaethje has ‘fight of the year’ written on it, and it will be interesting to see when the clash happens.
