“Still as dumb” – Daniel Cormier rips into Jon Jones over controversial “knockout” between stars

One of the biggest talking points in MMA right now is UFC star Jon Jones stepping up to heavyweight.

‘Bones’ vacated his light heavyweight belt recently to announce that he is leaving 205 to brawl with the big boys in the weight class above.

While some seem to think he’s going to do well, others are not quite sure. One of them is his biggest foe inside the octagon, Daniel Cormier.

DC himself shuffled between the two classes and is a former light heavyweight champion as well. And he seems to think that Jones is not going to make it at heavyweight.

“Jon Jones will not knock out anybody [at heavyweight]. He doesn’t hit hard enough. If he couldn’t knock these dudes out at 205 [pounds], he’s not knocking these heavyweights out.”

It can go either way. Jones is very agile and is a potent attacker with one of the most complete attacking arsenal in the promotion.

But 265 is a different beast. Fighters like Francis Ngannou can wreak havoc with just one punch.

Jones also won most of his fights in light heavyweight by decision. But funnily enough, he beat DC by TKO before the fight was turned into a no contest. And he reminded him about it with a little edit that he made and posted on Twitter.

DC, of course, would respond. He reminded him that there is a different between kicks and punches, and how Jones testing positive for a banned substance meant that the fight was a no contest.

Nevertheless, the only way to really tell if Jones is going to do well in the division is seeing him inside the octagon.

He is putting in the work in training and looks like he is beefing up. Jones is also expected to fight straight for the gold.
