Cory McKenna got the better of Kay Hansen on her UFC debut

Welsh UFC star Cory McKenna made a great impression on her debut with a win over Kay Hansen.

The two 21-year-olds featured in the youngest all-female clash in UFC history but it was the Welshwoman who got the win.

McKenna improved her MMA record to six wins and a loss and is on a four-fight win streak. The 21-year-old posted a photo after the win and had a lot of praise for her rival:

“Got the win Saturday against a great opponent – nothing but respect for @kayhansenmma.”

However, she agreed with the decision of the judges as she won the fight via unanimous decision. McKenna was also quick to add that the fight was closer than expected and that was something that her team didn’t like all that much.

Hansen not impressed by judges

While McKenna can celebrate a great start to her UFC career, Hansen wasn’t all that happy with the decision.

She posted the stats from the fight and suggested that she had won the first and the third rounds. Hansen now has an MMA record of seven wins and four losses and this defeat also ended her streak of four-wins on the spin.

The pair certainly put on a good show and it will be interesting to see who they can fight next. Hansen and McKenna have bright futures in the UFC and the pair will improve with more fights and training under their belts.

The UFC Women’s Strawweight division is stacked with quality opponents, and the pair of Hansen and McKenna will also become great fighters if they keep on improving.
