Best Steam Summer Sale horror games

Project Zomboid (Rs 354)

Project Zomboid sees players trying hard to survive in a government-quarantined area of Louisville, Kentucky – known as Knox Country. The game is in an apocalypse-stricken area that has been ravaged by zombies. Players choose their character’s appearance, occupation, and traits before choosing a starting town from four. In addition to avoiding zombies, players must manage their personal needs by resting, finding supplies, and using survival strategies to stay alive.

There are a number of activities the player can engage in, as well as skill books that will help the player level up skills. The game uses Romero-style zombies, although some of the zombies are faster than others, and a setting to make the zombies move faster can be found in the sandbox mode. Among the game’s difficulty settings are preset, as well as a sandbox mode, which allows players to customize the game’s settings such as zombie population, virus transmission, and loot rarity.

The world becomes increasingly desolate as time goes on, with water and power grids being cut off and structures being eroded and overgrew. Additionally, the game includes some fixed ‘challenge’ scenarios, some of which are set on separate, smaller maps and feature fun gameplay elements, like an endless winter storm or zombie hordes that track players.

Ghostwire: Tokyo (Rs 1,249)

The player can use various psychic and paranormal abilities to defeat ghosts and spirits haunting Tokyo in Ghostwire: Tokyo. It is an action-adventure game played on a first-person perspective. According to combat director Shinichiro Hara, this game combines karate with magic, since the player character uses hand movements inspired by Kuji-kiri to cast spells. Whenever an enemy is losing its health, the player can use takedown moves to destroy it.

In the game, the character (Kazuhiko Inoue) begins flying over an accident scene in search of spirits. As the character defeats these spirits and collects Yokai, spirit points and resources will be collected which can be used to upgrade the character’s abilities. Having found a body to possess, the spirit chooses to possess Akito (Kensuke Nishi) who has been rendered unconscious. The spirit has taken control of his right hand, but Akito has not lost control of his body. Eventually, a haunting fog rolls in, transforming anyone caught in it into a spirit.

He is saved thanks to the spirit possessing him. A Hannya-mask-wearing man appears on screens nearby and uses a spell to channel evil spirits into cages in Shibuya. Akito is told by the spirit he needs to monitor Mari’s health at the local hospital. There is no doubt that this is one of the best Steam Summer Sale horror games.

Left 4 Dead 2 (Rs 69)

First-person shooter Left 4 Dead 2 places a strong focus on team play. The game introduces five brand-new campaigns, each made up of three to five more compact levels. Similar to the first game, each campaign is presented in the menus and loading screens as a film starring the four Survivors. Each campaign also includes a fake credits screen that serves as the players’ final scorecard and summarises their performance data.

Most of the levels in every campaign have the Survivors trying to get to a secure area and then lock the door once they are all inside. The Survivors must call for help in each campaign’s concluding level in order to either survive a lengthy attack until help arrives, make it through a particularly difficult Infected horde to a vehicle of escape, or (in Dead Center and The Passing) gather and use fuel cans to make it out of the area.

Each of the five types of equipment—primary weapons, secondary weapons, throwable weapons, major medical supplies (which also contain ammo upgrades), and small medical supplies—can be carried by a single survivor.

Dying Light 2 Stay Human (Rs 2,009)

Stay Human is the sequel to Dying Light, an open-world action role-playing survival horror game with a zombie apocalypse theme. It stars Aiden Caldwell, a renegade protagonist who possesses various parkour skills. Aiden can use the undead to break his fall, climb ledges, slide, leap off edges, and wall run to navigate the city. Over 3000 parkour animations can be found around the city. Tools such as grappling hooks and paragliders also aid traversal.

There is a wide range of weapons that can be upgraded with blueprints and components that can be found when breaking down weapons for craft parts. Aiden has the ability to utilize superhuman skills due to the infection. The melee weapons have a limited lifespan and degrade as they are used in combat. Long-range weapons, such as crossbows, shotguns, and spears, are also available.

The Forest (Rs 132)

The Forest is a game in which the player controls Eric LeBlanc as he searches for his son Timmy after a devastating plane crash. The player must create shelter, weapons, and other survival tools to survive. A tribe of cannibalistic mutants inhabits the peninsula, along with a variety of woodland creatures. They live in villages on the surface and in caves beneath it; though sometimes hostile to players, they are typically aggressive at night.

Throughout the game, as players explore the caves under the forest surface, they encounter increasingly bizarre mutations, including baby deformities and mutants with several extra appendages. There is also a day/night cycle in the game, with players able to construct shelters, set traps, hunt animals, collect supplies during the day, and defend themselves at night from mutants.

Dead by Daylight (Rs 299)

In Dead by Daylight, when hunting survivors, the killer must either strike them with their weapon or capture them unexpectedly by catching them in one movement. Many killers have only one method, i.e moving at a modest pace faster than a sprinting survivor. When a survivor is hooked for the first time, they may attempt to escape with the hook; however, this is a low success rate; hooked survivors are usually rescued by other survivors.

In the struggle phase, the survivor must either resist the Entity attempting to take them away by performing skill checks or be saved or killed by an ally if they escape or are saved and then hooked again. The survivor cannot escape or be saved and then hooked a second time. The killer cannot leap over obstacles that survivors can throw down into his path, but he can go around them or destroy them. Although walking rapidly, the killer is slower than the survivors in other actions, such as vaulting obstacles.

Additionally, the killer can read auras, constantly revealing the locations of generators, hooks, and sometimes survivors. Each killer has a different power. For instance, the Wraith can turn invisible and move faster, while the Hillbilly wields a chainsaw that enables him to dash quickly across the map and instantly take out any survivors. Users can customize these abilities by equipping add-ons. This is one of the best Steam Summer Sale horror games.

Phasmophobia (Rs 351)

A horror investigation survival game played from a first-person perspective, Phasmophobia focuses on identifying which type of ghost haunts a specific location by working solo or with up to three other players.

Using voice chat, there is the option of interacting locally within a short distance or globally via walkie-talkies. Phasmophobia also provides speech recognition technology, meaning that certain pieces of equipment, as well as the ghost, can understand keywords and phrases used by players.

There are eight paranormal investigators in Phasmophobia, each with a different appearance to distinguish between the members of the group. Completing objectives and obtaining evidence earns players experience, unlocks maps and difficulties, and earns money. The players join a lobby where all contracts are prepared. Phasmophobia is a great game to look in this Steam Summer Sale.

Resident Evil Village (Rs 1,749)

There are a number of structures and buildings in the central village that can be climbed and used against enemies in Resident Evil Village, which is set in a snowy Eastern European village similar to ones found in Victorian times. The game is said to be “pulled straight from the Victorian era”.

Since Ethan Winters has gained some military experience since Biohazard, the game is more action-oriented. The game’s main enemies, the werewolf-like Lycans, attack in packs and wield weapons, forcing players to rethink their strategy about whether to use sparse ammunition, use melee combat, or avoid combat altogether.

Resident Evil 4 features the same inventory management mechanic with a briefcase, which can be moved and rotated to make room for more items. It is possible for players to buy supplies, weapons, upgrades, and items from a merchant called the Duke. The Duke can also cook the animals the players find in the village into dishes for the players. Eating side dishes can reduce the damage taken when blocking.

Hunt: Showdown (Rs 749)

It is a first-person shooting game with two gameplay modes. The player controls a bounty hunter who hunts down the game’s four bosses to claim a reward. Each of the three maps provides clues as to where the monster is located.

The player collects clues to narrow down the location of the monster’s lair. The player is able to defeat four monsters, including the Butcher, the Spider, the Assassin, and the Scrapbeak, the new boss. Each map is a medium-sized open world filled with other environmental dangers and enemies, including Grunts, Hives, and Armoreds.

Hunt: Showdown offers players the chance to use a range of weapons, ranging from shotguns to crossbows, though ammo supplies are limited; players must make their shots count. Players can also use traps and decoys to defeat their enemies. Once a monster is killed, players will receive the bounty and must survive until they can exit the game.

DayZ (Rs 1,679)

During the zombie outbreak that has befallen the game’s world, the player is tasked with staying alive and healthy as they explore homes, barns, and apartments to scavenge supplies of food, clothing, and other essentials. Additionally, players are able to customize clothing, add extra storage space for supplies, and heat themselves up by using these supplies. Food and water are basic ways to prolong a player’s life.

There is also a variety of weapons scattered around the map, allowing players to protect themselves from zombies and potential opponents. These mostly consist of melee weapons, but there are a few firearms as well, including attachments such as bipods and telescopic sights.

So these were some of the best Steam Summer Sale Horror games you can play.
