Predicted Celtic XI to face Dundee United in the Scottish Premiership

Celtic romped home to a comfortable 3-0 win over bottom-table Hamilton Academical in the Scottish Premiership at the weekend and now face Dundee United. Goals from Odsonne Edouard, Leigh Griffiths and David Turnbull earned them a win.

Neil Lennon’s side have won each of their last five games in all competitions and the Hoops will be looking to stretch their unbeaten run when they play host to Dundee United on Wednesday. Celtic beat Micky Mellon’s side 1-0 back in August and they will be the outright favourites to come away with all three points once again.

Celtic are currently 16 points adrift of arch-rivals Rangers atop the standings, but the Hoops still have three games in hand to try and reduce the deficit.

Lennon doesn’t really have too many injury concerns heading into the midweek home game against Dundee United. Christopher Jullien missed the last game with a slight knee problem but that was more precautionary. James Forrest remains a long-term absentee for the Hoops.

Probable Celtic XI vs Dundee United

Formation: 4-2-3-1

Conor Hazard (GK)

The youngster has put up a string of impressive displays between the sticks in recent weeks and should retain his place in the starting XI.

Jeremie Frimpong (RB)

The former Manchester City starlet dazzled with his attacking contribution in the last game and Lennon should continue to back him with regular starts.

Diego Laxalt (LB)

The Uruguayan found himself on the bench in the 3-0 win over Hamilton but could be back in the mix if Lennon opts to rotate his squad.

Kristoffer Ajer (CB)

The Norwegian has shown signs of rediscovering his best form and Celtic will be hoping that he continues to improve.

Nir Bitton (CB)

The Israeli international put in a solid shift at the heart of the defence this past weekend and could be handed another start if Jullien remains on the sidelines.

Scott Brown (CDM)

Ismaila Soro impressed in the last game but the veteran could be back in the starting XI if Lennon opts for rotation in the middle.

Callum McGregor (CM)

He remains the key driving force in the Hoops’ midfield and will be high on confidence after a tidy display against Hamilton.

Ryan Christie (RM)

The Scotsman struggled to make a big impact in the 3-0 win over the Accies but remains a key player in the club’s creative cavalry.

Mohamed Elyounoussi (LM)

The Southampton loanee has blown hot and cold this season but the midweek clash against Dundee United could be a good opportunity for him to find some consistency.
