Mac Jones is surely nowhere close to what he expected him to be in the 2022-23 season. Having already missed games due to an ankle sprain, the Quarterback was brutally treated by the New England Patriots fans and they chanted for rookie QB – Bailey Zappe to replace him in the team’s most recent showdown against the Chicago Bears.

While it was exactly what the New England Patriots’ fans wanted to see, sports media veteran – Skip Bayless called out Bill Belichick for taking such a measure. Bayless pointed out that pulling Mac Jones out of the contest vs the Chicago Bears, would’ve affected the latter’s confidence big time.

Skip Bayless quoted on the latest episode of Undisputed, “Anybody who knows football would disagree with this decision. It feels like you have no QBs because you damaged the confidence and longevity factor of Mac Jones.”

Bill Belichick on Bailey Zappe replacing Mac Jones

After the Bears vs Patriots game ended, Bill Belichick was adamant on his stance that including both his QBs in the spoken off game, was always in his plan. However, as the spoken off QB did not feature in the game after that as Patriots brutally lost 33-14.

On point to note was, ever since Zappe stepped onto the field, the team could be seen running the game, to their possible extent. Safe to say, this rookie QB has made full use of Jones’ absence. From being the third-choice QB – Zappe is fighting hard for the numero uno spot.

That being said, one thing that everybody should be aware off – Bill Belichick admitted that the initial plan was for Jones to later re-enter the match, but he changed his mind as Chicago began to run away with the victory. “The score got out of hand,” he added. “I didn’t think that was the right thing to do.”
