Release Date: 9th May 2023

Since the release of Hannah Gadsby’s groundbreaking, category-busting, unique Nanette in 2018, the world and comedy alike have undergone significant transformations. Gadsby’s life has also altered significantly (he’s married and famous), but thankfully, the fearlessness and sharpness of their humor remain.

After performing their Body of Work tour across the globe for almost a year, the master storyteller finally released their first feel-good romantic comedy performance, Something Special, on Netflix because, as they put it, “I believe I owe you one.”

Their memoir, aptly titled Ten Steps to Nanette: A Memoir Situation, became a New York Times bestseller last year after Gadsby followed up Nanette’s success, which won everything from an Edinburgh Fringe Comedy Award to a Peabody (and an Emmy, just for good measure).

Gadsby’s newest, shot at Australia’s Sydney Opera House, centers on their recent wedding to their producer Jenney Shamash and features the band’s signature unflinching approach to topics like homophobic bakers, fake wedding politics, queer domesticity, and roadkill mishaps. “I didn’t say who it’s a feel-good show for,” they warn with a grin. “I feel really good.”

Release Date: 16th May 2023

Anna Nicole Smith: You Don’t Know Me is this month’s must-see for everyone searching for an engrossing real narrative. American model and actress Vickie Lynn Hogan, best known by her stage name Anna Nicole Smith, was the subject of a Netflix original documentary that provides an uncompromising and humanizing look at her life, death, and secrets.

The film follows Anna Nicole Smith from her days as a Playboy centerfold until her tragic death in 2007. It uses previously unseen material, home videos, and exclusive interviews to shed fresh light on her life and legacy.

‘Untouchable’ director Ursula Macfarlane, also the director of this documentary, tells Tudum, “I want audiences to understand that Anna Nicole was a complex woman.” The new documentary uses archival material, home videos, and interviews to explore Anna Nicole Smith’s life from infancy to the height of her celebrity.

Macfarlane adds, “I feel like many previous books and films about Anna Nicole twisted her narrative, so I felt fortunate to have access to a wealth of audio and TV interviews, including personal phone calls that involved Anna Nicole.” He added, “I feel like she is telling her own story in her own words. And with the contributions of people in her life who genuinely knew her, I feel that we’ve been able to get closer to her truth.”
