Elliot Nix’s death: Elliot Nix was a 46-year-old, who posed as a parking attendant to scam Erick Aguirre who worked as a Crane operator in Aransas County, Texas. According to court documents, Elliot in Texas interrupted Erick’s dinner date to shoot and kill a guy who had reportedly pretended to be a parking valet and bilked him out of $40.
Authorities say that a date that began at a Texas burger joint earlier this month finished with one of the participants in prison for killing the other for over $40 and acting as if nothing had occurred for the remainder of the night.
In connection with the death of 46-year-old Elliot Nix on April 11, Erick Aguirre has been charged with murder. After learning from a restaurant worker that he had been cheated by a parking valet, 29-year-old Erick Aguirre reportedly left a dinner date with a lady, retrieved a weapon from his vehicle, and fatally shot 46-year-old Elliot Nix.
Aguirre went back to the Rodeo Goat and assured his date that “everything was fine.” This was reported by the Washington Post. While investigating what they are calling the latest case in the United States of a very trivial quarrel developing into lethal gun violence, Houston police eventually detained Aguirre on a count of murder after releasing surveillance photographs of him to the local press.
Attorney Rick DeToto told the Washington Post that his client, the lady who went on the date with Aguirre, was “shocked to see a photo of herself on the news and to hear that she was a person of interest” in the inquiry.
Elliot Nix’s death, The Incident
According to DeToto, his client willingly cooperated with authorities after seeing the images, resulting in Aguirre’s arrest. She was “devastated” by Nix’s death but will not face charges in connection with the killing.
“She was simply having dinner with the defendant and was unaware of the shooting,” DeToto said of the lady, who has not been named.
On 11 April, when Aguirre and the lady parked in the lot across from Rodeo Goat in Houston, Nix — masquerading as a parking attendant — approached them and said it would cost $20 to park each vehicle. Nix promised reimbursement if they brought the receipt from supper back to him. Aguirre withdrew forty dollars from a local bank and gave them to Nix.
Nix was reportedly pursued by Aguirre after the two were informed that Nix was a “known parking scammer” and Aguirre hurried to his white Cadillac to fetch a revolver. Several people who saw Aguirre “nonchalantly walking back to his car with the gun in his hand” after the shooting were quoted by the Washington Post as telling police that they had heard a single gunshot.
He reportedly left the restaurant without finishing his date and returned to his vehicle to get his revolver. However, after Aguirre “started to look uncomfortable” at the restaurant, the two reportedly left shortly thereafter.
A short time later, emergency personnel arrived at the site of the shooting and confirmed Nix’s death. Nix and the guy who has now been identified as Aguirre “were involved in an argument. Presumably, that escalated into a shooting,” according to a police news release.
After the shooting
Nix was taken to a local hospital, where he was declared dead shortly after arrival. On Thursday, local prosecutor Michael Hanover reportedly informed the media that Nix was shot in the back. On April 25th, police located Aguirre, a crane operator, in Aransas County, Texas, some 200 miles southwest of Houston.
Now, there is a high chance that Aguirre will receive life imprisonment as a punishment. If he is convicted as a murderer. Aguirre had already been charged with aggravated assault with a dangerous weapon in 2017. Before he was suspected of murdering Nix.
Court filings reveal that if Aguirre posts bail. He must be at least 25 miles away from the “Greater Houston area” save while meeting with his defense counsel and he must wear a GPS monitor at all times (even when at work).
