Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr advocated for a 72-game season as he felt sorry for fans having rested Stephen Curry and others against the Cleveland Cavaliers.
The Golden State Warriors went up against the Cleveland Cavaliers in their most recent meeting at the Chase Center on Friday night. The defending champions went up against one of the form sides in the NBA at the moment, and despite missing quite a few big names such as the likes of Stephen Curry, Draymond Green and others – ended up recording a 120-114 win on the night.
The Warriors were missing their talisman Stephen Curry, Draymond Green, Klay Thompson and Andrew Wiggins as they were all rested owing to fixture congestion. In their absence, it was Jordan Poole who stepped up for the Lakers as he put up a performance where he racked up 32 points, 3 rebounds and 2 assists – guiding the depleted Warriors to an important win.
While the Warriors did end up winning the game, a chunk of their fans at the Chase Center were not satisfied as they missed out on watching Stephen Curry and the likes in action. Head coach Steve Kerr made it a point to address the disappointed fans in attendance, as he suggested a newer format of the NBA to make sure that star players are not held back for time management.

Head coach Kerr said that he felt sorry for fans having rested Curry and a host of other superstars.
Kerr, a four-time champion with the Warriors, addressed the press following their win as he said that he felt sorry for fans who came to watch Curry in action. Kerr said: “I feel terrible for fans who buy tickets expecting to see someone play. It’s a brutal part of the business. That’s why I’m going to continue to advocate for 72-game seasons”.
Kerr has previously advocated for a shorter NBA regular season as well, and it is likely that he will continue to do so for the foreseeable future.
