The Portland Trail Blazers drafted Shaedon Sharpe from Kentucky with the 7th overall pick in the recently concluded draft. Even though Sharpe was a very high-rated prospect in this draft, he actually didn’t play a single game in College.

Sharpe was criticized a lot for his unavailability for Kentucky, but according to him, it was the best decision for him considering his future in the game.

Talking about why he didn’t play for Kentucky, Shaedon Sharpe said, Getting my body right, getting a little bit stronger, a little bit bigger. My mindset was, get my body right.” Kentucky’s head coach John Calipari also supported Sharpe’s decision. He said, “Shaedon has been a great teammate and has handled everything that comes with being a college student-athlete the way he should.”

He added, “Since he arrived on our campus, he’s been an integral part of our program and he’s already registered for summer and fall classes, but we support this decision to explore every option and make the best decision for his future based on all of the information he can receive.”

Shaedon Sharpe will be playing on an exciting team in the NBA

The Portland Trail Blazers have built an exciting squad after blowing it last season. They still have Damian Lillard and Jusuf Nurkic. Anfernee Simons showed last season that he is a great player on the rise.

They also got Josh Hart, and recently traded for Jeremi Grant. The inclusion of Shaedon Sharpe will provide that extra swagger to their team. Even though he is likely to be on the bench in his first season, Sharpe is expected to light up the NBA with his talent.
