The NBA All-Star game has confirmed a major change to how the teams are selected with a first during the ongoing 2022/23 season.

The NBA All-Star Game has been one of the best sporting events in the country for having the best basketball players in the country all in one game to put on a show of a lifetime for the fans. This season, the league has spiced up the already hugely celebrated event by adding a different angle to drafting teammates by having it happen only moments before the game takes place.

While the top players from both the Western and the Eastern Conferences take each other on after being selected through a rigorous voting process, the scales have been shifted this year as for the first time, the NBA All-Star Draft will take place right before the game. The two team captains will draft the team rosters from the pool of players voted as starters and reserves in each conference.

The game will take place on Feb. 19, 2023, and Utah will be the host. The team captains will still be the top vote-getters for each conference. However, they’ll only get to choose who they will be playing with before the game.

The captains will be the All-Star starter from each conference who receives the most fan votes in his conference. TNT will announce the starters and captains on Thursday, Jan. 26 at 7pm ET.

How did the All-Star game go down last year?
