The Minnesota Timberwolves had acquired Rudy Gobert, formerly DPOY winner for the Utah Jazz, in a major trade that will pair him with fellow All-Star big man Karl-Anthony Towns.

Four first-round picks, including the 22nd pick (Walker Kessler), Leandro Bolmaro, Patrick Beverley, Jarred Vanderbilt, and Malik Beasley, were reportedly traded by the Timberwolves to the Utah Jazz. According to insiders, Utah will receive unprotected picks in 2023, 2025, and 2027 as well as a top-five protected pick in 2029 in Danny Ainge’s first franchise-altering deal since taking over as the Jazz’s CEO midseason.

After sending such a big haul for Rudy Gobert, the expectations for Minnesota Timberwolves have got very high. Last season they made the playoffs and looked good but this team around their focus is on the championship.

Karl Anthony-Towns, who has been the face of this franchise since he was drafted also believes that the team needs to make a run toward the championship this time around.

He said, “It’s go time. The (Rudy Gobert) trade happens. There’s no more time. There are no more excuses. We’ve got to get it done now. It’s championship now or bust. Got to go out there and get the job done.”

Karl Anthony-Towns wants to spend his entire career with the Minnesota Timberwolves

Karl Anthony-Towns was drafted by the Minnesota Timberwolves in 2105. Since then he has been their best player every year. The team has added new players and now they have a legit chance of winning it all.

KAT expressed his desire to stay in Minnesota, and finish his career here. He said, “My dream was always to try to retire here and live every single day of my NBA career as a Wolf. Deeper into my career, new contract, I feel very good with the possibility of that happening.”

With KAT getting Gobert alongside him in the front court, and D-Lo with Anthony Edwards in the front court, the future is looking promising for the Timberwolves. Hopefully, they’ll have a successful season this year.
