LeBron James recently signed a two-year $97.1 million contract extension with the Los Angeles Lakers ahead of a new season.

LeBron James recently signed a two-year $97.1 million contract extension with the Los Angeles Lakers. He also has a player option for the 2024-2025 season. This contract made LeBron James the player with the highest earnings via contract in NBA history.

This is a great deal for the Los Angeles Lakers, as they will be in contention mode till LeBron is there. It is why they never hesitated in offering this kind of money to their best player.

Stephen A Smith was also happy with this extension. Talking about it he said, “First of All He Deserves It He’s Lebron James He’s Still One of the Best Players in the World at Age 37 After 19 Years in the League Approaching His 20th Season 97 Million Dollars You Know Averaging Less Than 50 Million a Year With the Box Office Attraction That He Is and the Fact That He Still Puts Forth the Herculean Effort on a Night and Night Out Basis.”

He added, “He Deserves Every Penny What I Was Initially Worried About When I Saw It Was That Wait a Minute Two Years Strips You of the Flexibility if You’re the Los Angeles Lakers to Really Do the Kind of Things You Want to Do in Free Agency Potentially Next Year.”

The Lakers still have some moves to make ahead of the new season. They would want to put the best players around LeBron James so that they can win another championship with him.
