Why Nick Breitenbucher would be a perfect fit for Liverpool

According to The Guardian (h/t Daily Mirror), Liverpool are in pursuit of highly-rated Hoffenheim youngster Nick Breitenbucher.

A left-winger by trade, teenager Breitenbucher has been in sensational form for Hoffenheim’s under-17 side that has seen them rise to second in the U-17 Bundesliga Süd/Südwest competition this season.

He is his side’s top-scorer in the league this term with 13 goals despite featuring just 16 times. His goal-scoring prowess had seen Hoffenheim push domestic powerhouse Bayern Munich to third in the U-17 league rankings before coronavirus stopped play.

Breitenbucher’s top form also saw him earn a place within Hoffenheim’s under-19 squad. However, he is yet to play for them. Having proved his potential at such a young age, Premier League sides such as Liverpool and Chelsea have now shown an interest in him.

Breitenbucher a good future investment for Liverpool

Liverpool, meanwhile, have established themselves as one of the strongest sides in Europe under Jurgen Klopp recently. The top-form of their players both in attack and defence have helped them to win their first league title since the formation of Premier League back in 1992.

The Reds’ dominant show in recent times has been mainly due to the excellent form of their attacking trio of Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino, and Mohamed Salah. Mane has established himself as manager Klopp’s obvious first-choice man on the left-flank since his arrival at Anfield back in 2016.

He is also the side’s second-highest goal-scorer in the league this season, behind Salah, with 16 goals against his name in the Premier League. Apart from Mane, Liverpool also recently bought Takumi Minamino during the January transfer window to add depth to their squad.

Minamino, however, has found it difficult to break into the first-team due to Mane’s consistency in front of goal. Also, Mane’s top form has attracted the likes of La Liga giants Real Madrid, whose manager Zinedine Zidane seems to be a big admirer of the wide forward.

Considering all this it would be safe for the Reds to make a move for rising talent like Breitenbucher as he could prove to be an excellent future investment by the club. Hence, Liverpool should not waste any time and make an attempt to land him at Anfield if they wish to stay at the top in the long run.
