Back-to-back TV appearances have made fans wonder if Carlito is really returning to WWE

Carlito is close to a permanent return with WWE. The Puerto Rican-born wrestler was released by the promotion more than a decade back.

But after 10 and a half years out, he finally made his appearance in WWE last weekend. It is reported that he is in a 3-week trial period with the promotion. (h/t Wrestling Inc.)

If things do go to plan, he could well be back on WWE’s permanent payroll.

Carlito came in as the #8 entrant in the Royal Rumble PPV. He spent close to 8 minutes in the ring before being eliminated by Elias.

And then, he appeared on this week’s episode of Monday Night RAW. He partnered Jeff Hardy to take on Jaxson Ryker and Elias.

Carlito and Hardy won, thus establishing the returning wrestler as a face. Carlito, son of WWE Hall of Famer Carlos Colon Sr., was a fun and enigmatic character during his 7-year-long stay at the promotion.

Carlito spent close to 7 years with WWE before returning in 2021

Since his main roster debut in October 2004, he went on to win individual as well as tag team title. His most successful reign came as a tag team partner with his real-life brother Primo.

The two won the WWE tag team championship and the World tag team championship, later unifying the belts at WrestleMania XXV.

It is good to have someone like him back at WWE. It keeps a link between the recent past, the present, and the future of the promotion.

Carlito was earlier scheduled to return to WWE at the Legends Night special episode of RAW on January 4th. That, however, did not happen.

Nevertheless, he is back with the promotion, even if it is on a temporary basis. His contract could be made into a permanent one soon, but no announcements have been made as of now.

Carlito also showed off an incredible body transformation since his first stint with WWE. He seems incredibly muscular compared to his earlier days and it will be interesting to see how his trial goes.
