Liverpool player ratings vs Watford in the Premier League

Liverpool continued their winning run in the Premier League with a comprehensive 3-0 victory over Watford at Vicarage Road on Saturday.

The victory ensured that Jurgen Klopp’s men keep up the pressure on league leaders Manchester City who beat West Ham 4-0.

After a goalless first half, Mohamed Salah opened the scoring for the Reds in the 67th-minute, beating Ben Foster from close range off Sadio Mane’s cut-back from the left.

Liverpool stamped their authority with their territorial domination and Trent Alexander Arnold doubled the lead for the Reds with a curling free-kick before Roberto Firmino capped off a dominant display, scoring with a header from Mane’s rebound in the 89th-minute.

Liverpool player ratings

1. Alisson (7/10)

Another clean sheet for the Brazilian. Made a good sharp save to deny Roberto Pereyra in the first half and looked a reliable presence between the sticks but got into trouble with his distribution at times.

2. Trent Alexander-Arnold (7.5/10)

Scored the second goal with a curling free-kick from outside the box and looked solid defensively; contributed to the attack with some good crosses into the penalty area.

3. Virgil van Dijk (7.5/10)

The Dutchman didn’t have too much to do in the heart of the defence and dealt pretty well with whatever little that came his way.

4. Dejan Lovren (7/10)

The Croatian out in a decent shift at the back alongside van Dijk and didn’t make too many mistakes; got forward at times but didn’t look too good with his passing.

5. Andrew Robertson (8/10)

He pretty much ran the show for the entire game. Solid at the back and contributed a lot to the attack from the left with powerful driving runs; set up Mane in the first half with a beautiful pass and initiated the counter-attack which led to the third goal.

6. Georginio Wijnaldum (6.5/10)

He didn’t do too much wrong in his central midfield role; good with his passing and got forward at times to join the attack but lacked his usual sharpness and could have moved the ball a bit quicker.

7. Jordan Henderson (5/10)

A poor display from the captain. Sent off in the second half following a series of unnecessary fouls that led to the red card incident; looked a bit off the pace and didn’t have much impact on the proceedings either.

8. Xherdan Shaqiri (7.5/10)

A brilliant display from the Swiss international. He constantly probed away at the opposition in the final third with his energy and pressing off the ball; moved the ball around quickly, linked up well and created a few opportunities.

9. Sadio Mane (7.5/10)

Always a lively presence down that left flank. Combined well with Robertson and could have got his name on the scoresheet in the first half; made some good runs behind the backline and set up Salah for the opener with a fine cut-back from the left. Played a big part in the third goal as well.

10. Roberto Firmino (7.5/10)

The Brazilian excelled in his No.10 role and did well to get his name on the scoresheet. Set up the first goal for Salah with a beautiful pass to Mane; tried to work the channels in the final third with his crisp passing and subtle movement.

11. Mohamed Salah (7.5/10)

A good display from the talisman. Showed a lot of tenacity to put the opposition under pressure; had a header on target saved in the first half and scored the opener with a crisp finish from close range.
