Fernando Alonso is set to replace Sebastian Vettel at Aston Martin in the 2023 F1 season

Fernando Alonso has joined Aston Martin on a multi-year Formula 1 deal from 2023. The two-time F1 world champion will leave Alpine at the end of the season to join Aston Martin, acting as the latest bombshell in the F1 driver market. The Spaniard takes over the seat that is being left vacant by Sebastian Vettel after he announced his F1 retirement last week.

“This Aston Martin team is clearly applying the energy and commitment to win, and it is therefore one of the most exciting teams in Formula 1 today.I have known Lawrence and Lance for many years and it is very obvious that they have the ambition and passion to succeed in Formula 1”, said Alonso.

Alonso will partner Lance Stroll at the Silverstone-based team. After the opening half of the season, Aston Martin currently sits ninth in the Constructors’ Championship.
