F1 2020 Schedule: How many new F1 races will feature in the 2020 calendar?

The 2020 F1 season features an extended calendar and is scheduled to have 22 Formula One races throughout the year

Formula One returns to action in Melbourne and the 2020 F1 schedule features a record 22 races throughout the year.

This is the first time that an F1 season has 22 races, and that is going to cause some difficulties with the logistics.

F1 confirmed that there would also be seven back-to-back race weekends and there are a couple of new additions to the 2020 calendar too.

Vietnam will host its first F1 race and will be the 34th country where the Formula One circus will come to. The Netherlands will also see the return of the Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort, and that should see more Max Verstappen fans come out and cheer on their star.

As usual, the first race of the season takes place in Melbourne, Australia while the final race is in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

Formula One 2020 schedule

March

The Australian GP starts off the F1 calendar with a trip to Bahrain next. Melbourne hosts the race on 15 March and Sakhir does the same just a week later on 22 March.

April

The F1 remains in Asia for another month. Hanoi will host the first Vietnamese Grand Prix on the streets of the city on 5 April while a two-week break will see the Chinese Grand Prix take place on 19 April.

The Coronavirus scare has already affected the Formula E race and it will be interesting to see if F1 returns to the country.

May

The European leg gets into full swing after the Chinese Grand Prix with the Netherlands hosting F1 after almost 30 years.

That race takes place on 3 May and is followed by the Spanish GP on 10 May. The final race of the month is the legendary Monaco GP, and is set for 24 May.

June

Baku, one of the newer circuits on the F1 calendar hosts the Azerbaijan GP on 7 June and the F1 circus then heads to Montreal for the Canadian GP on 14 June.

It is a trip back to Europe for the French Grand Prix on 28 June after Canada.

July

The races come thick and fast as Austria comes calling next on 5 July before another iconic race, the British Grand Prix is held at Silverstone on 19 July.

This will be the home race for several teams such as McLaren, but the loudest cheers would be for six-time world champion Lewis Hamilton.

August

F1 has a bit of a break with the Hungarian GP taking place on 2 August and the Belgian GP takes place almost a month later on 30 August.

September

The Italian Grand Prix is the next one on the circuit, which should see a huge Ferrari crowd come out and cheer Charles Leclerc and Sebastian Vettel.

The GP will be on 6 September and the race after that is the Singapore GP on 20 September.

Russia holds the final race of this month with race day on 27 September.

October

Japan is the next destination for the F1 circus with the race on 11 October before the Unites States come calling on 25 October.

November

The final month of the F1 2020 calendar sees the Mexican Grand Prix take place on 1 November.

Brazil hosts the next race on 15 November before the season ends at the Yas Marina circuit in Abu Dhabi on 29 November.
