His basketball journey began when he got the opportunity to represent his high school basketball team. He outperformed all his fellow mates and as a junior, he was named the Westchester County Mr Basketball. He continued to show great talent and got the honour of NEPSAC AAA player of the year during his senior year.
After completing his schooling he joined Fordham University and set a record for his debut game for scoring the highest points in the debut game as a freshman by scoring 31 points. He ended his freshman year averaging 15.9 points and 5.5 rebounds per game and he also got his name on the Atlanta 10 Rookie of the year.
After completing his freshman year, he choose to get transferred to play for Villanova University in 2016 and went on to play till 2019. He continued his consistent performance and got his name as the First-Team All-Big East. The Golden state warriors picked him during the second round of the 2019 NBA draft, where he was the 41st pick overall.
Eric caught the media’s attention when he scored his career-high of 34 points against the Los Angeles Clippers. It is not surprising that he was named to the NBA All-Rookie First Team in 2020. After his two-year stint, he was traded to Utah Jazz in 2021 and he lasted there just a year.
