Why did Avril Lavigne and Mod Sun break up?
Avril Lavigne was one of the hottest pop stars in the 2000s, and continues to command a legacy in the hearts of her fans courtesy of her musical work. While her fans are most interested in her musical work, they also often keep an eye out on her personal life – such as her list of suitors.
Lavigne was in a relationship with fellow musical performer Mod Sun until very recently. Lavigne and Mod Sun met in 2021 and they bonded instantly over their mutual love of music. “We linked up through just talking about music,” Mod Sun said in February 2021, saying how starstruck he was when he first the pop-punk princess.
“It’s hard to even say because it’s f–king Avril Lavigne but she was like, ‘I really like your song, I really like your music,’ and she was like, ‘Send me some other stuff that you’re working on.’ The pair had got engaged in March 2022 after just over a year of dating, but it has since been reported that they have called their engagement off.
In a post on Instagram, Mod Sun appeared to have addressed the split alongside a series of recent live photos. “In 1 week my entire life completely changed…I just know there’s a plan for it all,” he wrote. “I’ll keep my head up + always listen to my heart, even when it feels broken. Being surrounded by love every night on tour has been an absolute blessing. I have the best friends in the entire world, thanks for always having my back. See you on stage.”
Lavigne has not publicly commented on the break up, but it looks like she has moved on from Sun quickly – and already has a new beau.

As it turns out, Avril Lavigne is dating rapper Tyga now.
On Monday, Lavigne, 38, and Tyga, 33, were photographed sharing a kiss outside the Mugler X Hunter Schafer party at Paris Fashion Week. “Tyga and Avril are getting to know each other,” a source commented. “It’s very new. It’s very casual.”
The couple were previously seen arriving together at Leonardo DiCaprio’s party at Kùkù restaurant in Paris last Wednesday.
