John Cena could be one of the greatest WWE stars of all time but does he still wrestle?
WWE star John Cena has done it all in the promotion. The 43-year-old made his WWE debut in 2000 and has spent more than 20 years in the wrestling business.
While he started his career as a heel, he became the face of the WWE over the past decade or so. Cena is a 16-time World Champion and has won several other titles during his time in the promotion.
Cena has only featured for one other promotion during his wrestling career, and has become a huge movie star.
He also does a lot of work for the Make A Wish foundation, and has supported other movements too, such as Black Lives Matter.
However, Cena made his name as a wrestler but fans have seen very little of him over the past couple of years or so.
His last appearance in WWE was at WrestleMania 36. He faced off against The Fiend/Bray Wyatt in a cinematic match and lost. The ending of the match also hinted that his wrestling career is over.
Has John Cena retired from wrestling?
That is a tough question to answer. While reports claimed that Cena was done with wrestling after the WrestleMania match, there is no confirmation of the same.
Cena has always suggested that he wouldn’t perform in any other promotion apart from WWE. WWE also still sells a lot of Cena merchandise, so it is safe to say he hasn’t been released by the company.
Further, Cena is one of the biggest names in the history of WWE and it makes sense to keep him if he ever comes back.
For now, Cena doesn’t seem to be wrestling any more as he concentrates on his other ventures. Cena is to come in several movies in the coming years and also recently got married to his girlfriend, Shay Shariatzadeh in 2020.
The 43-year-old might not be a free agent yet but he isn’t performing in WWE as much as he used too. Nevertheless, Cena has done a lot for the company, and it will be interesting to see if he ever makes a return to the promotion.
Cena has an estimated net worth of $55million, and that will only grow thanks to all his projects.
