N’Golo Kante also didn’t feature in the 2-1 win over Watford at the weekend, while Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen also missed out.

Ajax might have some problems with their forward line-up as both Lisandro Martinez and Edson Alvarez are carrying minor knocks.

Chelsea and Ajax are great attacking units and there could be several goals scored in the clash.

Goalkeeper

Kepa Arrizabalaga and Andre Onana are both valued at 8.5 Cr and the Chelsea star should be selected ahead of Onana for this clash.

The Spaniard was excellent for Chelsea in the win over Watford and has looked good between the sticks this season.

Defenders

Selecting three full-backs is often the best way to increase the chances of earning points from the defence.

Nicolas Tagliafico

Emerson Palmieri, Nicolas Tagliafico and Sergino Dest are the best options for this clash, given that Chelsea’s Cesar Azpilicueta’s crosses aren’t that great.

Midfielders

Chelsea have several quality options for their midfield and Christian Pulisic has come into form at the right time.

Christian Pulisic

The American scored a hat-trick against Burnley a week back and found the back of the net against Watford too.

The former Borussia Dortmund winger will be joined by Willian while Mateo Kovacic is selected to keep a check on the credits spent.

From the Ajax side, Hakim Ziyech and David Neres should be selected.

Ziyech has five league goals to his name already this season while Neres has found the back of the net six times in the Eredivisie.

Forwards

Tammy Abraham has been on fire for Chelsea this season and has racked up 10 goals in all competitions.

The Englishman has to be in the side while has also chipped in with a few goals this season.

The Belgian came off the bench to score the winner against Ajax the last time around, and it will be interesting to see how he does in this game.

Captain and Vice-captain

Abraham should be named as the captain for this clash given his form.

Pulisic has also done extremely well in recent weeks, and should be selected as the vice-captain.

Prediction

Chelsea have been in fine form in recent weeks under Lampard, and they should be favourites to beat Ajax.

The Blues have to be wary of Ajax’s attacking threat, but should have enough in the tank to beat the Eredivisie giants.
