He also mentions that most of the employees are happy and do not fall under the crunch of the gaming industry. If you are not familiar with the word “crunch” it means that the developers work overtime just to release the product on the scheduled release date. The crunch is mostly followed to eliminate competition or with other publishers to make sure their product stands out.
The Monopoly of Big Game Studios
There are few partially true statements in his interview when it comes to saying that a lot of big game development companies go for revenue instead of delivering a quality product.
This specifically refers to the fact that a lot of big game development companies follow the trend of microtransactions and in-game purchases to milk their revenue as much as possible.
For an Indie development company, the fans are organically formed, and they do have a soft spot for the development team as small companies are equally capable of delivering a quality product without the plague of microtransactions.
