Best Pokemon Main Series Games – Ranked

published

Pokemon Games have been a fan favorite since the release of their first game. Here is our list where we have ranked all the Best Pokemon Games of All Time

Pokemon took the world by storm almost instantly. The multimedia powerhouse is recognized for its extensive line of anime cartoons, blockbuster films, toys, a trading card game, clothes, souvenirs, and, of course, video games. That’s quite good for a small Japanese RPG about catching wild animals. We’ve all joined the series at different times and have cherished memories of the games that originally introduced us to it or meant the most to us.

Since the first Pokemon game was published in 1997, the franchise has spanned several generations. Each each generation introduced us to a different locale, a fresh batch of pokemon, and new bad guys. To keep the game interesting, certain new game mechanics have been included with each generation. The game mechanic that set the bar for all subsequent Pokemon games was the day/night cycle in Gold and Silver. It was challenging to rank these games, each of which featured adorable Pokemon. So here is our list of the Best Pokemon Games Ranked.

Best Pokemon Games Ranked

10. Pokemon Let’s Go

While fans awaited the completely new generation of Sword and Shield, this Switch game served as a warmup. The game’s structure was simply a recreation of the original Pokemon Yellow, with the same 151 monsters re-rendered in the Switch’s high-resolution aesthetic. Let’s Go was a fun nostalgia and a fun way to pass the time until the new generation arrived. It also featured Pokemon roaming freely in the open, as well as a simple catch method similar to Pokemon Go. But since this made the game a whole lot easier, fans of the original Pokemon were extremely disappointed.

9. Pokemon Sun and Moon

Players had a Pokemon adventure unlike any other, in Pokemon Sun and Moon, with the Island Challenge taking the place of the series’ regular Gym Battles, the debut of the enigmatic Ultra Beasts, and brand new fighting mechanisms like the Z-Moves. While seasoned trainers will recognise these games since they retain the original gathering and battle action, they also offer a Pokemon experience unlike any other. There were a few new features in the game as well, such as a higher level of character customisation. It also introduced new Alolan Pokemon, regional versions of traditional favourites that, according to legend, evolved differently according to their surroundings.

8. Pokemon Sword and Shield

With good cause, Pokemon Sword and Shield was one of the most anticipated games of 2019. The Galar Region is a charming location modelled on the United Kingdom, and it’s easy to lose track of time in its vast Wild Area capturing all the roaming Pokemon and exploring everything it has to offer. The Galarian form designs included references to parts of the United Kingdom, and the ability to associate with all of the creatures via the new camp function was a nice touch. Sword and Shield is a tremendously memorable experience with a cast of colourful characters and Pokemon, even if it is a little simpler than previous entries in the series. It’s also without a doubt the best-looking Pokemon game to date.

7. Pokemon Black 2 and White 2

Although all of the Pokemon games are set in a shared universe, Black and White 2 is the only official sequel in the series. The revival of Team Plasma is the focus of these sequels, which take place two years after the events of Pokemon Black and White. Despite the fact that it took place in the same region as the original game, it included new cities and areas as well as a few new elements. However, while it was a fun follow-up to an already excellent Pokemon game, it lacked the novelty of a new Pokemon generation and didn’t offer the same level of change.

6. Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire

While much of the formula stayed the same, Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire on the GameBoy Advance brought the game into a bright realm of colour. For the first time, 2v2 double battles were introduced, and Pokemon were given different Natures that altered their overall stats. This entry also featured the first introduction of a long list of new skills that were type-specific. Contests were also added to the game to introduce new challenges. The Hoenn area had a fantastic location, and the Legendary Pokemon Groudon and Kyogre, both of which could bring a unique weather element into combat, were particularly noteworthy.

5. Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon

These Ultra versions, which were released as follow-ups to Sun & Moon, enlarged the Alola region for a fresh take on the original games’ island adventures, featuring all-new Ultra Beasts, this generation’s mysterious legendaries. These reimaginings of the original Gen 7 games also allow players to go to Ultra Space, where they will find a plethora of new Alola content.

4. Pokemon X and Y

Pokemon X and Y introduced Fairy types and retrospectively granted this typing to previously seen Pokémon like Clefairy and Jigglypuff. This was done to make battle between Dark and Dragon types more balanced. It also introduced Mega Evolution, which has remained popular in Pokemon GO despite not appearing in subsequent games. The games take place in the Kalos region, which was inspired by France, and introduced us to 72 beautifully designed new Pokémon. It also provided more extensive character customisation, letting players to change their outfits and haircuts for a unique look, which grew increasingly crucial as global interactions got more prevalent.

3. Pokemon Black and White

In the main series, Pokemon Black and White is a bit of an anomaly. Because of its less recognisable Pokemon designs, it is frequently overshadowed by other entries, but its adult tone and intriguing plot help it stand out in the lineup. The fifth generation of Pokemon places a greater emphasis on plot and plays with the concept of right and wrong, as it is the only game to receive a direct sequel in the form of Black and White 2. The Pokemon community is extremely divided on Pokemon Black and White. Some fans love it very much while some absolutely hate it.

2. Pokemon Diamond and Pearl

The Global Trade Station, or GTS, makes its first appearance in Diamond and Pearl. Players from all around the world could connect and trade their caught monsters via the DS’s WiFi connection. Trading has always been a big part of the series’ identity, and this was a big step forward in terms of realising its full potential. These games are also to credit for Game Freak’s decision to abandon HMs. Because there were so many of them, players were forced to either drag down their team with these special moves or change out for a Pokémon whose entire goal was to be an “HM Slave.”

1. Pokemon Gold, Silver and Crystal

Gold, Silver, and Crystal games are by far the greatest in the series. They improved what made the originals so amazing, rectified a few bugs, and introduced more features to the basic formula that would be used in subsequent games, such as berries, Exp Share, two new types, Pokerus, and shiny Pokemon, to the standard formula that would be used in subsequent games. The addition of a day and night cycle introduced new obstacles as well as some Pokemon that could only be captured at specified times of the day. The traits that made the original games so enjoyable were still there in Silver and Gold.
