published

AEW Fight for the Fallen Results and Grades: AEW Fight for the Fallen included the much-wanted clash between Jon Moxley and Brian Cage.

The pair were to meet for the AEW World Title at Fyter Fest but Moxley had to undergo quarantine after his wife, Renee Young, tested positive for Covid-19.

Nevertheless, there were some other big matches on the card too with Cody Rhodes defending his TNT title against Sonny Kiss.

Fight for the Fallen had a lot to live up to after AEW Fyter Fest and here are the results and grades.

Cody vs Kiss

It was Cody who started this match on fire as he went after Kiss with a Full Nelson in hopes of an early win.

However, Kiss brought his unique offence into the game and got right back into the clash. Cody almost got a win after a suplex and looked frustrated that he couldn’t put Kiss away.

Kiss tried to get the big W of his AEW career but Cody was just about able to hit the Cross Rhodes for the win.

Cody beats Kiss

Grade A

Cody celebrated with Kiss after the match and even hugged his opponent. However, the champion just didn’t look like he was at his best and it seems that he thought he would win the clash easily.

He got very frustrated during the match and that played a role in the performance too.

FTR vs Lucha Bros

Lucha Bros returning to AEW has made their tag division probably the best in pro-wrestling. They put FTR to the test in this clash and Pentagon and Fenix were putting on a show.

Dax Harwood got into the clash and turned the match around. He was able to get the roll-up win after pulling off Fenix’s mask.

FTR beat Lucha Bros

Grade B

Butcher and Blade taunted FTR about having the keys to their vehicle but The Young Bucks attacked the pair and handed the keys to FTR.

Kenny Omega got doused in beer by FTR this week but the pair couldn’t get their car started at all.

FTR vs Bucks certainly will happen soon and all this beer bash was needed to get some heat between them.

For now, the Lucha Bros were excellent in the clash too, even though they couldn’t get the win.

Orange Jericho

Chris Jericho came out with some of his Inner Circle members. He spoke about winning over Orange Cassidy and also winning the demographics war, but claimed he would not have a rematch against Freshly Squeezed.

Cassidy then came out and gave a thumbs down to the trio before orange juice was dumped onto Jericho.

Grade D

This segment really missed the mark despite Cassidy coming out and dousing Jericho with juice. The talk about ratings just wasn’t needed and Jericho suggesting that he wasn’t going to fight Freshly Squeezed also didn’t make much sense when they will meet again, sooner rather than later.

Jurassic Express vs Elite

Omega and the Young Bucks (Matt and Nick Jackson) faced off against Luchasaurus, Marko Stunt and Jungle Boy of Jurassic Express.

It was Jurassic Express that controlled the early portion of the clash before the Elite used their experience to isolate Jungle Boy.

However, a tag to Luchasaurus changed the complexion of the match and they also had a close call. Omega got a win in the end for his team but attacked Stunt after the clash, and looked upset over all that he had done.

Elite beats Express

Grade A

Omega losing his cool was great as he hinted at a different beast coming out. It will be interesting to see how it goes with him as he certainly wasn’t pleased after getting doused in beer.

Brandi and Allie team up

Brandi Rhodes and Allie paired up to face MJ Jenkins and Kenzie Page. It was an easy win for Brandi and her partner but the real kicker came out later.

Nyla Rose came out with Vickie Guerrero, who served a warning to the rest of the AEW roster as she became the former champ’s manager.

Nightmare Sisters beat Page and Jenkins

Grade B

The tag match was quite decent especially with Brandi and Allie still having some issues. However, the real talking point was seeing Vickie return to a wrestling ring, and it will be interesting to see how does alongside Rose.

Cage vs Moxley

The AEW Champion Moxley faced off against the FTW Champion Cage. The match started off as expected with both stars unloading on each other.

Moxley was able to hit the cross armbreaker which caused the match to end in controversial circumstances. Every time Cage tried to escape, Moxley kept it locked it.

Taz, Cage’s manager, was at ringside and threw in the towel to save his fighter. However, Cage attacked Moxley after the bell but Darby Allin made his return to knock Cage out of the ring.

Grade B

The finish could have been better with Allin causing Cage to lose and a fight between them could take place.

However, Taz saving his wrestler made sense and it will be interesting to see what is next for Moxley and Cage.
