WWE SmackDown results, winners, and grades 19 August 2022: Toxic Attraction make main roster debut

Here are the SmackDown results for the 19th of August, 2022.

Drew McIntyre and Roman Reigns come face-to-face and we can expect a brawl. Gigi Dolin and Jacy Jayne will take on Natalya and Sonya Deville in a Women’s Tag Team Championships tournament match.

Ronda Rousey comes to the ring

Ronda Rousey made her way to the ring and said she paid her fine and then some last week so she isn’t leaving this week until she is reinstated.

Adam Pearce came towards the ring with a couple of security guards. He makes it clear that he cannot reinstate her as the authority is above his pay grade. Rousey can’t come out and hijack the show. The former SmackDown Women’s Champion warned Pearce not to make her choose violence.

Pearce sent security to the ring. Rousey shrugs them off with a kick to one and a judo throw to the other. Two more guards come out but Rousey gets the armbar on one of them. Pearce tries to convince Rousey to let go but the former MMA Star just fell back on the armbar. Pearce calls police officers and Rousey is cuffed and taken out of the arena.

Natalya and Sonya Deville versus Toxic Attraction (Gigi Dolin and Jacy Jayne)

Dolin and Natalya got us underway. The latter delivered a schoolboy for a nearfall. Deville got the tag and began wearing down the NXT star. Jayne eventually got the tag and the youngsters take control of the match.

Natalya delivered a Side Russian leg sweep followed by a couple of suplexes. The veteran tried a sharpshooter but was denied. Natalya hit a discus lariat on Dolin. Natalya got the sharpshooter locked in on Dolin but Jacy had got the tag and was the legal competition. Attraction wins the match with a schoolboy from Jayne on Natalya.

Winners – Toxic Attraction

Grade – B

Sami Zayn entered Roman Reigns’ room as the Tribal Chief wanted to meet him. Reigns asked how things have been going for Zayn. The former Intercontinental Champion said that Jey Uso has been saying some harsh things to him. Reigns consoled him by saying that Jey has a respect problem.

Reigns’ phone rings and it’s Jey. Zayn picks up the phone following Reigns’ order. After the conversation, Zayn informed Reigns that The Usos have some trouble at the border but he is here to help the Head of the Table.

Reigns wished Sami good luck ahead of his No. 1 contender’s match for the Intercontinental Championship and said that the title would look great in the Bloodline.

Reigns asked Sami to give a message to Kevin Owens. The champion said that he doesn’t owe anybody anything and Zayn said that he will make Owens hear it.

Maximum Male Models are in the ring and they cut a usual promo about titillating the juices. Hit Row make their way to the ring. Max Dupri said that they are not model material. Hit Row clears the ring and Top Dolla gets on the mic and begins a live performance.

After a commercial break, we get a vignette where Karrion Kross calls Drew McIntyre the chosen one but screams at him because he knew he was wrong to be chosen.

Sheamus vs Sami Zayn vs Ricochet vs Baron Corbin vs Madcap Moss – Winner faces Gunther for the Intercontinental Championship at Clash at the Castle

Moss and Sheamus began the brawl. Corbin delivered a chokeslam to Ricochet. Zayn hit a few punches to Corbin. A forearm from Corbin blasted Zayn out. Happy delivered a back suplex for a nearfall. Satellite DDT from Ricochet on Corbin. Sheamus hit an Irish Curse backbreaker on Moss. Sami also suffers the same fate. Zayn favored his shoulder and went backstage.

Sheamus and Happy Corbin brawled in the middle of the ring. The Irish star got the better of the Lone Wolf. Madcap Moss got hit with a huge knee from Sheamus. Ricochet hit the recoil. Zayn returned to the ring, still favoring his shoulder. He hit a Helluva kick on Ricochet and went for a cover but Corbin pulled him outside the ring. In the end, Sheamus hit a Brogue Kick on Ricochet to pick up the win.

Winner – Sheamus

Grade – A

Liv Morgan versus Shotzi

Shotzi dominated the match from the get-go. She focused her attack on Liv’s injured arm. Shotzi dropped Liv outside the ring.

However, Liv managed to survive as she delivered the Oblivion to pick up the win.

After the match, Shayna Baszler appeared out of nowhere and took out Morgan. Baszler said she will break her arm and she won’t make it to Cardiff. The Queen of Spades threatened to damage Liv’s arm with a stomp but decided against it and kick her in the face instead.

Winner – Liv Morgan

Grade – C

Roman Reigns and Drew McIntyre come face-to-face

Roman Reigns came out to the ring and said that he doesn’t need to tell anything to McIntyre face-to-face as he is beneath him.

McIntyre marched out to the ring and said that Reigns doesn’t deserve to be the champion because Paul Heyman takes care of him politically and The Usos take care of him physically.

McIntyre said that at Clash at the Castle, he is going to tear Reigns apart at Clash at the Castle. The Scottish Warrior said that he feels like starting a fight tonight itself. Both men began a slugfest. McIntyre got the better of the exchange. He went for the Claymore but Zayn pushed Reigns away and took the bullet for the Tribal Chief. Reigns hit a Superman Punch to take out McIntyre. The WWE Universal Champion was about to hit a spear but McIntyre came back strongly with a Claymore to stand tall as the show drew to a close.

Overall show grade – B
