published

Here are the SmackDown results for the 15th of July, 2022.

Liv Morgan will compete on SmackDown for the first time after becoming SmackDown Women’s Champion. She will face the veteran Natalya. They had a match at WWE’s previous house show and it ended with Natalya screaming at Liv Morgan after not selling her finisher. The Queen of Harts stormed out of the ring afterward. She would later put out a tweet and wrote that she was just thanking Morgan but went on to delete the tweet later on. Fans have been suspecting some bad blood between the two wrestlers and it would be intriguing to see how their match unfolds this week on the blue brand.

Pat McAfee is back

Michael Cole introduced Pat McAfee as the former American football player apologized to us because he wasn’t present last week on Smackdown and we had to listen to Corey Graves and Happy Corbin. He said that his neck was not broken but bruised so he is back with a new contract and ready to wrestle more matches. McAfee said he will humble Corbin at SummerSlam. Corbin appeared on the tron and said that he easily took out McAfee at Money in the Bank because he is a fighter. The Lone Wolf showed his right arm and said he has something similar to monkeypox, so he will be staying away for now. McAfee said he is allergic to being in the presence of the wonderful WWE Universe and went on to welcome Liv Morgan to the ring who was scheduled to face Natalya.

Natalya versus Liv Morgan – Championship contender’s match

Liv Morgan delivered a dropkick for a near fall. She followed with another dropkick as the veteran was rattled early on. Natalya tried locking in the Sharpshooter on the ring apron but Morgan blocked. The SmackDown Women’s Champion tried to deliver the Oblivion but this time it was Natalya’s turn to block. The B.O.A.T. sent Morgan into the ring post as the champion fell on the outside following the impact.

Back in the ring, Natalya was dominating proceedings until Morgan climbed up to the middle rope and delivered a dropkick to get back in the match. A couple of bicycle kicks followed by an enzuigiri and a dropkick but Natalya kept fighting.

Natalya hit a German Suplex for a two-count. She set up Morgan on the top rope and attempted the Superplex but the youngster escaped. Morgan survived a sit-down powerbomb to deliver the Oblivion to pick up the victory.

Winner – Liv Morgan

Grade – B

After the match, Kayla Braxton interviewed Morgan in the ring. She said that Morgan’s win against Natalya wasn’t as dominant as Ronda Rousey’s win against Natalya last week. Morgan said that she understands what Braxton is trying to say and she knows she will be walking into the match against Rousey as the underdog but that is exactly what she has been her entire life. You could call her anything you want but after SummerSlam, you will continue calling her the SmackDown Women’s Champion.

Theory was interviewed backstage. Paul Heyman dropped by. He offered Theory to work together with him so that he could schedule a title match – Theory versus Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship at a PPV event instead of cashing in on a worn-out Tribal Chief. However, Theory knew what he wanted to do as he was ready to cash in on either Lesnar or Reigns at the opportune moment. So the youngster turned down Heyman’s offer.

Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods come out to the ring impersonating The Viking Raiders

The New Day shuffled between talking as The Viking Raiders on one occasion and themselves on another. They said that the Raiders put on face paints to scare their opponents and they succeeded in doing so. The Raiders came out to the stage area. They were about to come to the ring when Jinder Mahal and Shanky attacked them. The New Day also joined in as the heels retreated.

Gunther and Ludvig Kaiser were interviewed backstage. They were shown last week’s video of the match between Kaiser and Nakamura which the Japanese star won. After the loss, Gunther punished Kaiser. Braxton asked Gunther why he attacked Kaiser. Gunther said that there was no room for losses and that losses are unacceptable. Braxton informed them that Nakamura has another match against Kaiser on next week’s episode of SmackDown. Kaiser apologized to Gunther but the latter asked him to unzip his jacket. A thunderous chop followed.

Lacey Evans versus Aliyah

Lacey Evans made her way to the ring and said that she might not be better than anyone in the arena but they are not better than her. She went through obstacles that would crush the average American. Evans said that she might have offended a few but all she spoke was the harsh truth. She apologized but the WWE Universe kept on jeering. She left the ring as Aliyah and the referee were left stranded in the ring.

Drew McIntyre versus Sheamus – The winner gets a shot at the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship at Clash at the Castle

As the Brawling Brutes made their way to the ring, the announcer took the name of Ridge Holland to face McIntyre. Butch rang the bell as the match between McIntyre and Holland began.

Drew McIntyre versus Ridge Holland

The Scottish Warrior started strongly by delivering a belly-to-belly suplex. The former two-time WWE Champion delivered the 10 Beats of the Bodhran right in front of the Celtic Warrior.

However, interference from Butch allowed Holland to take advantage. That would be short-lived though as McIntyre delivered a neckbreaker. He followed it up with White Noise and finally ended the match with a Claymore.

Winner – Drew McIntyre

Grade – C

Theory versus Madcap Moss

Madcap Moss was interviewed backstage but Heyman dropped by once again. Heyman tried luring Moss in by suggesting a match against Reigns for the WWE Universal Championship. He offered a handshake but Moss did not oblige. Moss said that it seems Heyman is really worried about Theory cashing in his Money in the Bank contract on Reigns. Moss turned down the offer from Heyman and left the scene.

Madcap Moss took down Theory with a waist lock takedown. Theory came back with a chin lock. Moss freed himself and took down Theory with a Shoulder Tackle. The babyface hit a Fallaway Slam but Theory once again applied the chin lock. Theory slammed Moss’ head on the turnbuckle. Moss liked the move as he used it on Theory, sending him face-first into the turnbuckle. Outside the ring, Mr. Money in the Bank leapfrogged an onrushing Moss as the 2022 Andre the Giant Memorial trophy winner went shoulder-first into the steel steps. Back inside the ring, Theory delivered a dropkick and applied the chin lock to wear down his opponent.

Theory was in total control of the match until a shoulder tackle knocked Theory off his feet. Moss delivered a Spinebuster and went for a cover but Theory kicked out at 2. Moss knocked Theory off the apron. Theory crawled away to the timekeepers’ area. Moss chased him. Theory grabbed the Money in the Bank briefcase and used it to assault Moss.

Winner – Madcap Moss via DQ

Sami Zayn confronts Theory

After the match, Theory said that he will be the future WWE Universal Champion. Sami Zayn appeared at the stage area and asked Theory to apologize to The Bloodline. Theory was in no mood to apologize. The Usos came out as Theory backed away. Unfortunately for him, he walked straight into Moss. The former friend of Corbin picked up Theory and sent him into a ring post. Moss tossed Theory over the barricade and left.

Angelo Dawkins versus Jimmy Uso

Dawkins delivered a modified Spinebuster but Jimmy hit back with a Samoan drop. Jimmy nailed an Enzuigiri but Dawkins came back strongly, sending the heel over the barricade with a shoulder tackle.

We went into a commercial break and after returning, Jimmy was in control of proceedings. Jimmy executed the hip attack but Dawkins came back strongly with some hard-hitting moves. Jey got up to the apron but Dawkins took him out. Jimmy inadvertently took out the referee Charles Robinson. Dawkins rolled up Jimmy but nobody was there to count. Jimmy delivered a Superkick and went for the cover but Robinson had not recovered as yet. In the end, Dawkins hit a pop-up powerbomb to pick up the victory. However, the replays showed that Jimmy’s right shoulder was up.

Winner – Angelo Dawkins

Grade – B

After the match, Adam Pearce came out to the stage area and revealed that WWE Hall of Famer Jeff Jarrett will be the special guest referee for the Undisputed Tag Team Championship match at SummerSlam. After the announcement, all hell broke loose inside the ring as The Usos and The Street Profits went to war. Several referees tried to stop the brawl but they failed to succeed.
