Tonight’s Episode of WWE SmackDown will start to build towards Money in the Bank. Two qualifying matches are set to occur tonight: Drew McIntyre takes on Sheamus, and Lacey Evans takes on Xia Li. Ricochet defends his Intercontinental title and more.

1. Intercontinental Champion Ricochet puts his title on the line against Gunther. 

Ricochet won the title from Sami Zayn on the March 4 episode of “SmackDown“. Since then, he’s successfully defended the gold in a rematch against Zayn in a triple threat match against Angel and Humberto and also against Jinder Mahal and Shanky.

Gunther is also undefeated since he was called up to the SmackDown roster in April. He and Ludwig kaiser even got a tag team win over Ricochet and Drew Gulak on SmackDown last month. Now Ricochet will be putting his title on the line against Gunther. They both recently crossed paths, and now The Ring general is out to ground the high-flying titleholder and take his title. 

2. Drew McIntyre battles Sheamus in a Money in the Bank

The one Money in the Banks qualifying match being promoted for tonight is Drew McIntyre vs Sheamus. They were once best friends and are now set to be an explosive Money in the Bank Qualifying Match on SmackDown. In recent weeks The SmackDown warrior has reemerged on the blue brand to join forces with The New Day against The Celtic Warrior and his Brawling Brutes.

Each trio has walked away with one victory a piece in a pair of Six-Man Tag team Matches. First, McIntyre locks horns with Sheamus in a one-on-one high stake where the winner will become the first entry in the 2022 Men’s Money in the Bank ladder match. On July 2, many of the best Superstars in WWE will battle to climb the ladder and seize the coveted Money in the Bank contract, which they can cash in for a World Championship Match any time they choose. Don’t miss all the action of SmackDown this Friday at 8/7 C on FOX. 

3. Lacey Evans returns to SmackDown to take on Xia Li in a Money in the Bank Qualifying Match

These will be the qualifying matches for the women as Lacey Evans takes on Xia Li. Evans is returning to in-ring action for the first time since February 2021 as she went on maternity leave. Evan’s return has been shown a lot through vignettes. She was also moved from the SmackDown roster to the RAW roster and then back to the SmackDown roster.

Now Evans will make her highly anticipated blue brand return to the ring Money in the Bank Qualifying Match. She will be standing across from Xia Li, a dangerous force to be reckoned with. The electric showdown on July 2 will feature many of the best Superstars in WWE as they fight to ascend the ladder and seize the coveted Money in the Bank contract, which they can cash in for a World Championship Match whenever and wherever they choose.
