WWE SmackDown Grades and Results 8 May 2020: Who won between Rose and Deville?

WWE SmackDown Grades and Results: This was the final WWE show before Money in the Bank, and a lot was riding on it.

SmackDown had to hit the ball out of park to keep some viewers interested for the PPV, and they had most of their top guns on show.

Braun Strowman and Bray Wyatt were to meet, but there was a big rivalry that started off this week’s show.

Mandy Rose faced off against Sonya Deville as their WWE rivalry grew, and here are the results and grades from this week’s SmackDown.

Rose vs Deville

This rivalry has been simmering for a few weeks now and the pair got their hands at each other. Deville cost Rose a place in the Money in the Bank match, and the Golden Goddess came out firing on all cylinders.

However, it was Deville who came out on top with a quick roll-up to win the clash.

There could have been more heat between the pair during the match but Deville did her best as the heel. Rose played the faced, and it will be interesting to see when the former best friends meet again.

Four team madness

The New Day teamed up with the Lucha House Party to face Miz & Morrison and the Forgotten Sons.

While the match took some time to get going, this eight-man event was always going to end up into chaos.

The Forgotten Sons left a lot of damage behind and that allowed the Miz to hit the Skull-crushing finale on Lince Dorado for the win.

Grade B

All four teams go into Money in the Bank with a real chance of winning the title. It is interesting that the Forgotten Sons have been pushed so much ahead of the PPV.

Will we have new champions or can the New Day retain? This should be one of the best fights on Money in the Bank’s card.

Jeff Hardy is back

the high-flying Jeff Hardy made his return to WWE and spoke with Renee Young and was keen on going on a great run.

However, Sheamus came out to mock the high-flyer and the pair clashed. It was Hardy who came out on top as he hit a swanton bomb on the Celtic Warrior.

Grade B

It was expected that Sheamus would have something to do on Hardy’s return. The segment might not have been the greatest, but it was perfectly told, especially with Hardy’s promo.

Sheamus vs Hardy will take place, and it will be interesting to see how Hardy does.

Let him in

Strowman came out to the ring and called out Bray Wyatt. Surprisingly, it was Wyatt who came out and not The Fiend.

Wyatt again asked Strowman to rejoin him, but the Monster walked away leaving Wyatt a little confused.

Grade B

It would have been great if there was some action but WWE tried to play the psychology route. Strowman vs Wyatt should be interesting at Money in the Bank, especially if The Fiend doesn’t make an appearance.

Tamina and Evans gain momentum

Tamina and Lacey Evans have tormented Sasha Banks and Bayley for a while. Evans and Tamina teamed up to face the best friends in a tag match on this week’s show.

It were the best friends who started off well after a scare from Tamina. They isolated and worked on Evans but Tamina made a huge comeback for the team.

Evans first hit Banks with the Woman’s Right before Tamina hit the Samoan Drop to pin Bayley.

Grade B

This was the right result ahead of Money in the Bank. Evans looked good and it will be interesting to see how she does in the ladder match.

Similarly, Tamina looks set to win the title, but Bayley and Banks might have an ace up their sleeve.

Gulak and Bryan find a partner

The main event for this week’s show saw Drew Gulak and Daniel Bryan face off against Shinsuke Nakamura, Baron Corbin and Cesaro.

However, they needed to find a partner and got one in Otis. The Heavy Machinery member impressed early on but Bryan was targetted a lot by the heels.

Gulak looked good after coming in but he was hit by a deep six from Corbin who picked up the pin.

Corbin then brought out a ladder to showcase his skills ahead of MITB. Bryan and Otis tried to stop him but he pulled down the briefcase to celebrate.

Grade B

This match featured several of the competitors for the Money in the Bank match, and it was interesting that WWE gave Corbin the limelight.

Of course, the extra bit of bringing a ladder to get the briefcase didn’t need to be there, but it was a nice touch ahead of the PPV.

SmackDown TV ratings

SmackDown actually saw an increase in its ratings for the first time in a long while.

Showbuzz Daily reports that SmackDown drew 2.04million viewers as an average over the two hours.

The first hour saw 2.09million viewers while the second hour saw 1.99m viewers.
