WWE had announced earlier that Randy Orton and Riddle were injured after suffering a hellacious beatdown at the hands of The Bloodline on last week’s episode of SmackDown – injury update on Orton

Riddle returned to action on this week’s episode of SmackDown albeit with bandaged ribs. However, it seems that his best friend and tag team partner Randy Orton is being written off from television. Riddle mentioned on this week’s episode of RAW that Orton has severe pain in his back and was hardly able to walk before their tag team championship unification match against The Usos last week. However, the 14-time World Champion fought through the pain because he knew what the match meant to the WWE Universe.

On Friday’s episode of SmackDown, WWE announced that Orton is consulting neurosurgeons and orthopedic spine surgeons to understand the extent of his injury. WWE gave the following update on its social media handles regarding the Viper’s injury:

“Randy Orton is currently undergoing consultations with neurosurgeons and orthopedic spine surgeons to determine the extent of his injury and to recommend course of treatment.”

We are yet to know if the Legend Killer is legitimately injured or if it is just a kayfabe one planned to give him some much-deserved rest.

What is next for Riddle?

Riddle has continued his feud with The Usos even in the absence of his RK-Bro teammate Randy Orton.

This week on RAW, Riddle teamed up with The Street Profits to beat the team of The Usos and Sami Zayn in a six-man tag team match.

This Friday on WWE’s blue brand, the former NXT Champion appeared as Shinsuke Nakamura’s tag partner and took out The Usos. WWE went on to advertise a tag team match for next week’s episode of RAW. Shinsuke Nakamura and Riddle will face the unified tag champs The Usos.
