La Resistance is a former WWE World Tag Team Champion. But when did they make their WWE debut?

The stable of La Resistance was created by WWE with two arrogant “Frenchmen”, Sylvian Grenier and Rene Dupree. The company aired two vignetted of these Frenchmen attacking the United States and its policy from French news Studio.

Grenier and Dupree made their first appearance on April 28, 2003, as La Resistance by attacking then babyface, Scott Steiner. They feuded with Scott Steiner and Test, who was forced to be Steiner’s tag team partner by Stacy Keiber.

The stable of La Resistance went on to win against Steiner and Test at Judgement Day on May 18, 2003, in the team’s PPV debut. However, their most notorious insult to the United States came on Memorial Day in 2003 when they interrupted Raw announcer Lilian Garcia as she was singing America the Beautiful.

On May 26, 2003, edition of Raw, Grenier defeated Rob Van Dam in a Flag match to win a World Tag team Championship shot. La Resistance won the World Tag Team Championship from Kane and Rob Van Dam at Bad Blood. However, they lost the titles at Unforgiven 2003 in a three-on-two handicapped table match to the Dudley Boyz. The stable was broken when Dupree was drafted to SmackDown.

On July 26, 2007, Dupree was released from the contract, and On May 11 and August 13 2007, Grenier and Conway were also removed from his WWE contract, officially ending the WWE careers of all the three La Resistance members.

Rene Dupree recently talked about La Resistance and his debut at WWE 19 years ago.

Dupree recently appeared on the podcast with Chris Van Vliet and talked about his WWE debut at 19 and La Resistance. How he knew that Vince McMahon liked bodybuilders, so that’s what he did lifting weights.

“I started lifting weights at 11. I knew what I wanted to do. My father was very frugal, so he wouldn’t buy the food I needed. So I got a part-time job pumping gas in the Canadian winters. I would skip school to lift weights. I had no life. My inspirations were British Bulldog, Macho Man, Ultimate Warrior… I knew Vince liked bodybuilders, so that’s what I did.”
